Inside High Bay 3 of the Vehicle Assembly Building at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida, the work platforms have been retracted from around the Artemis I Space Launch System on September 20, 2021. All ten levels of platforms were extended and retracted as part of an umbilical test. During the test, several umbilical arms on the mobile launcher were extended to connect to the SLS rocket. They swung away from the launch vehicle, just as they will on launch day. NASA and Jacobs teams will continue conducting tests inside the VAB before transporting the Orion spacecraft to the assembly building and stacking it atop the SLS, completing assembly of the rocket for the Artemis I mission. Image grab from footage released by Russian Defense Ministry on Tuesday February 15, 2022 shows soldiers from units of the Southern Military District load onto railway transport for departure to their garrison bases (points of permanent deployment) in an undisclosed location after completing drills at the Ukraine border. The Russian Defense Ministry said that while large-scale drills across the country continued, some units of the Southern and Western military districts had completed their exercises and started returning to base. The movements came as Russia signaled Monday (February 14) it is ready to keep diplomatic talks with the West about security concerns that led to the current Ukraine crisis, offering hope to resolve the situation within the diplomatic route as the U.S. and Europe increasingly fear an imminent invasion by Russia amid increased military buildup in Ukraine. More than 100,000 Russian troops have massed near the Ukrainian border. Russia denies planning an attack or invasion but says it could take unspecified military action if a list of demands is not met, including a promise from NATO never to admit Ukraine.

BBC Radio 1's Gregathlon for Sport Relief 2016, Glasgow, Scotland - 10 Feb 2016
Greg James kicks off day three of BBC Radio's Gregathlon for Sport Relief in Glasgow, with the temperature at 1 degree and ice on the ground, it could be a treacherous day ahead: "I'm not going to flower it up it is cold. They have been scraping ice off equipment outside this morning. I'm numb at the moment - I'm being put into a wet suit, getting into my running shoes on then onto a bike, with no time to think about it. I've woken up with a cold and what feels like razor blades in my throat. I can't moan because it will just ruin the day. I can't believe that I'm still doing this still. It's madness and harder than I thought. Parts of the body are agony and my neck has had to be strapped up to keep me going. I really appreciate all of the support, keep me going guys!"

A sighted girl helps read a textbook to two older blind students. After completing Grade 5, the blind students progress to another local school, where they are integrated into sighted education in the hope of them having a future after school. This is the first chance for children to experience working life outside of the blind school compound, and it is seen as a way of bridging the gap between school and potentially University and careers. It is also a chance for sighted children to adapt to a blind person's needs, working towards being included in a cohesive society
World Sight Day, Mek?ele Blind School, Ethiopia
Mek'ele Blind School in Ethiopia is home to around 100 children, whose companionship and passion for their education is inspiring to encounter.

Photographer Tom Pullen visited the school last year, which lies on the outskirts of the city of Mek'ele in the vast northern Tigray region of Ethiopia.

The Bell's Barrel of Laughs challenge saw Rob complete a 517 mile journey while rolling a Bell's whisky barrel from the Blair Atholl Distillery in Perthshire. Rolling the whisky barrel for 12 hours a day, the only stops he made were to sleep and take part in comedy gigs at pubs along the way. His tiger feat is in motion.

Paul Goldstein's epic week-long charity run has roared into life. But his biggest challenge so far may have been the British weather.

The wildlife photographer and Exodus tour guide completed Sunday's Brighton marathon in just under six hours.

It is now a case of making his way to London on foot where he will run the marathon - all wearing a ten-foot tiger suit on his back for the 120 mile trip.

There will also be the small matter of presenting a lecture on endangered predators and wildlife photography at London's Royal Institution on Thursday.

"The only part of me that doesn't hurt is the tip of my nose," he says.

The runner and environmentalist is expected to pad into London later today (9 April.)

Top Guns: The Best U.S. Air Force Pictures of 2013

These stunning images show a year in the life of the largest air force in the world.

The United States Air Force has operations all over the world and enlisted photographers are there to capture the action.

The service's specialist Airman magazine has curated the most impactful imagery from 2013 for a special issue entitled 'Year in Visuals'.

As would be expected, the gallery features awesome images of aircraft, but there are also personal military stories including a striking image of Capt. Candice Adams Ismirle preparing for cancer radiation treatment, while Staff Sgt. Ron Blodgett is shown in tears as he embraces his son after returning from a deployment in Southwest Asia.

Managing editor Tech. Sgt. Chris Powell explains: "We pride ourselves on publishing the powerful imagery and videos Air Force photographers and broadcasters produce every day. These professionals travel the world, sometimes putting themselves in harm's way, to bring you the visual story from an Airman's perspective.

"Our goal is to make you feel as close to the story as possible, being right there with Airmen providing security in Afghanistan, a team of Airmen hiking the highest mountains on Earth or showcasing the Air Force's many aircraft conducting operations throughout the world."

Prince William has become the latest member of the royal family, along with his father and the Duke of Edinburgh, to learn to fly with the Royal Air Force. Along with 25 other RAF cadets he graduated today (11 April) and was presented with his 'wings' by his father at a graduation ceremony at RAF Cranwell in Lincolnshire. His graduation comes a day after the RAF celebrated its 90th anniversary at a dinner that was attended by the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall and William, along with RAF personnel of all ranks. After the ceremony, Prince Charles and his wife joined RAF graduates and their families at a reception before staying for lunch. In a move guaranteed to fuel speculation about their relationship, William's girlfriend Kate Middleton was also a guest. The Prince - an officer in the Household Cavalry regiment - has been following a shortened 12 week course that is designed to make him a competent flier but not an operational one. He is now shortly due to serve on attachment to the Royal Navy

    U.S. Navy 'swim calls' - 2016

When you're job is sailing the seas, the World is your swimming pool.

These amazing pictures show sailors and marines from the U.S. Navy taking part in what they call 'swim calls'.

Most recently pictured earlier this month (Feb) are those cooling off by jumping from into the Indian Ocean from guided-missile cruiser USS Antietam.

With the ship anchored, Swim Calls are seen as a refreshing break from the job of keeping high-tech battleships running.

The activity often occurs in warm foreign waters, such as the Mediterranean, Arabian and South China seas, the Indian and Pacific oceans.

Suffice to say, there will be people tasked with shark watch, from the ship and rigid-hulled inflatable boats.

Swimmers are able to clamber back onto the ship via landing docks or by climbing cargo nets.
