"WHERE THE RAINBOW ENDS" TO CONTINUE

"Where the Rainbow Ends" which has run for thirty Christmas seasons in London, a record for a Christmas production will be seen at the New Theatre as the usual theatre in Holborn is not available.
There had been fears that the show would have to close but Miss Italia Conti found this new home for it.
There is a tradition that the Lord Mayor and the Sherrifs should attend the premiere, which they have done every year at the Holborn theatre, but whether or not they will be able to do so this year is uncertain.

Photo Shows: Janet Hackford, aged fourteen, who plays " Will o' the Wisp " in the play.

    Johnnie Ray Returns .
Back to the London Palladium for a return visit recently came American crooner Johnnie Ray.
Audience reaction was still fantastically enthusiastic. Ray had lost none of his old touch , and he was able to sit on the roof of the theatre after shows dangling his feet above the upturned faces of his young fans as though in a pool of pleasant water. Backstage Ray showed a liking for the performing bears of Vogelbein's troupe , who shared the same bill with him . He ususally played with them when he passed , and sometimes fed them. He regarded them as mascots .

The chalked notice on the mirror : ' I am only as good as my next performance ' serves as a constant reminder to Shirley that successful though she is now, there must be no relaxation. For forty-five years they lay in an attic, but now these stunning images of Jimi Hendrix in his pomp can be revealed in full for the first time.

Miki Slingsby was just a fresh-faced 20-year-old photojournalism student at the Regent Street Polytechnic when he found himself both front of stage and in the dressing room for the Purple Haze singer's 8 October 1967 show at London's Saville Theatre.

The unveiling of the full set of photographs comes in the week a controversial Hendrix biopic is released (All Is By My Side opens in UK Friday 8 Aug).

The film stars Andre 3000, of Outkast fame, as Hendrix and is written and directed by John Ridley, who won a 2014 Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for 12 Years a Slave.

    **NOTE TO EDITORS:
