The Japanese car giant has released details of its planned Lunar Cruiser.
The vehicle , developed in tandem with the country’s space agency JAXA, will launch in 2029.
Toyota had previously discussed building a space rover in 2019 but now has revealed more details about its development.
The company is currently in the preliminary development phase before beginning work on the main vehicle in 2024.

A blended wing body jet is set to revolutionise military transport planes.
The United States Airforce has given to go ahead to private aerospace company Jet Zero go build a prototype of a blended wing aircraft dubbed BWB.
The design differs from a traditional tube-and-wing aircraft.
The BWB blends the aircraft body into its wing, decreasing aerodynamic drag by at least 30% and providing additional lift.
The increased efficiency will enable extended range, and increased payloads.
The US Air Force estimates that transport aircraft consume 60% of its annual jet fuel use which amounts to 4.5 billion litres.
The proposed blended wing plane would reduces noise and make fuel savings of up to 50% while being able to carry a much larger payload while still being able to operate from existing airports.
