Suspect thief stamps on baby after stopped by police, Zhengzhou, Henan province, China - 24 May 2010
SUSPECT THIEF STAMPS ON BABY
A suspected thief in China has drawn widespread horror after stamping on a baby.
The incident occurred in Zhengzhou, Henan province when two women carrying babies were detained after being accused of stealing a cell phone.
High school student Xiao Zheng was walking over a flyover when she suddenly discovered that her cell phone was missing.
She comments: "I then looked around and found two women holding babies just past me. A vendor told me that the women stole my phone."
Xiao ran up to the women and demanded that they return her phone.
"They jumped on me out of blue and started to pull my hair, saying I framed them and accusing me of stealing their cell phone."
The two women continued to abuse Xiao until "they suddenly threw my phone onto the ground, and I called police immediately".
Police arrived shortly afterwards, quickly followed by some of Xiao's family members.
As police tried to calm the situation down one of Xiao's angry relatives approached one of the suspect women and pushed her.
Shockingly, in response the woman in question threw her baby, a girl, onto the ground and stamped on it while shouting in protest.
As the baby screamed, both women then sat down on the ground and refused to move.
Eventually officers managed to get them into the back of a police vehicle and they were taken to the local station.
Miraculously, the baby escaped uninjured from the incident.

Even if they are caught by police they can then use the baby as an excuse when pleading for leniency from officers.
As such, sometimes these 'prop' babies are n...

The Saatchi Gallery opening with 'The Revolution Continues: New Art From China' exhibition, London, Britain - 06 Oct 2008
CHINESE REVOLUTION AT SAATCHI RE-OPENING
China is leading the way once again at the re-opening of London's giant Saatchi Gallery.
After a three-year closure the gallery has re-opened its doors in a new venue with the inaugural exhibition "The Revolution Continues: New Art From China".
Featuring some 30 of China's leading young artists, the show promises to be a "cutting edge survey of recent painting, sculpture and installation."
The Gallery was evicted from its original home at the County Hall on London's Southbank in 2005 after a row with the building's owners.
Now found at the Duke of York Headquarters building in Chelsea the Gallery has 70,000 square feet (6,500 square metres) of floor space to play with.
Due to this, it claims to be the only free entry contemporary art museum of its size in the world.
One of the more unusual exhibits on display in its opening exhibition is "Old Persons' Home" by Sun Yuan and Peng Yu. This satirical work features wheel-chair bound models of old people, many of whom bear some resemblance to world leaders, trundling aimlessly round the space they inhabit.
In another room sits a huge pile of fake excrement that contains hundreds of toy soldiers....
