A solo exhibition of works by Alia Ahmad (b.1996, Riyadh)
Ahmad’s colourful, expressionistic paintings draw inspiration from memories and observations of her native Riyadh, informed by local textiles, poetry, calligraphy, digital graphics and the rich diversity of the surrounding industrialised desert landscape and plant life. Executed with thickly applied oil paint, the works in the exhibition continue the artist’s engagement with her local environment – from the vibrant flowers that thrive in Riyadh’s arid climate, to the city’s evolving infrastructure. Ahmad’s paintings are presented alongside a suite of intricate charcoal works on paper. White Cube announced global representation of Alia Ahmad in September 2024. ‘Fields / ?????? ’ marks the artist’s second exhibition with the gallery, following her solo show in Paris in
