Cheeta signing his record deal
Cheeta the chimp at home in Palm Springs, California, America - 24 Jun 2008
Cheeta, the 76-year-old Chimp who starred in many Hollywood Tarzan films of the 1930s and 1940s, is coming out of retirement. Recognized as the oldest chimpanzee alive, the Palm Springs resident has just signed a record deal with independent music label Immergent. To celebrate the signing, Cheeta made a promo music video to accompany his cover of the 1975 hit song 'Convoy'. Cheeta's owner Dan Westfall and filmmaker Matthew Devlen have also set up the "Go Cheeta" campaign, trying to get Cheeta a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
