LINDRUM MEETS HIS OLD RIVAL
A match that may see the shattering of a 12-year-old record opened at Leicester Square Hall, London between Joe Davis and Horace Lindrum, the Australian snooker champion.
The records they are seeking to break is the one they set up in a 1938 match. The recorded nine century breaks in a week-a world record. Of these Joe got 5, Horace four.
In the present series, they will play 73 frames.

Battles for the United Kingdom billiards championship began today (Monday) in the Burroughes and Watts Hall, Soho Square, London when John Barrie of Wisbech former boy champion, measured cues with Sydney Lee of London, former Empire and amateur champion. The winner will meet Willie Smith, a former world champion.
