Giant leatherback turtle found in Essex estuary in England
Leatherback turtle in Essex. Shortly after 3pm on Wednesday 11th December, South Woodham Coastguard Rescue Team were alerted by a walker from Maylandsea of a sadly deceased Leatherback turtle which had washed up in Mundon Creek, just off the River Blackwater. After arriving at the location, the team liaised with the UK Cetacean Strandings Investigation Programme (CSIP) where they arranged to return on Thursday morning to recover the turtle. The recovery team consisted of Coastguards, members of the CSIP, and the adjacent farm owners, who worked together to carefully lift the quarter tonne turtle over the sea wall for transport to the Natural History Museum for examination and possible preservation.
South Woodham Station Officer, Andrew Dale said "At 1.7m long we have no record of such a sighting on the East Coast before"

Giant leatherback turtle found in Essex estuary in England
Leatherback turtle in Essex. Shortly after 3pm on Wednesday 11th December, South Woodham Coastguard Rescue Team were alerted by a walker from Maylandsea of a sadly deceased Leatherback turtle which had washed up in Mundon Creek, just off the River Blackwater. ÔWe want a better dealÕ: talking Brexit aboard a fishing trawler in UK coastal waters. Twenty miles off the coast of Cornwall lies one of the most fiercely contested Brexit battlelines. The fishing community will scrutinise Theresa MayÕs draft Brexit deal, concerned about access to waters and trade.The Fishing Trawler "Crystal Sea" which operates out of Newlyn, Cornwall. The skipper is David Stevens , who followed his father's footsteps in becoming a fisherman. A basket full of rubbish that was mixed in with the dayÕs catch.
