Pup patrol: saving lives at a seal sanctuary on Cornwall's coast
The Cornish Seal Sanctuary has been rescuing and rehabilitating pups for more than 60 years. Between September 2022 and March 2023, 50 grey seal pups were treated by the animal care team, with 86% of them being released back into the sea. The sanctuary also provides a permanent home to those needing special care.

The Cornish Seal Sanctuary is a charity that rescues and rehabilitates seal pups from around the Cornish coastline. Between September and March they provide care to injured or sickly seals with a variety of ailments. Each year around 70 of them go on to be re-released after a period of rest and recuperation.

‘Britain’s wildlife safari’: baby boom in Norfolk as seal colonies flourish.
20/02/2023, Horsey, Norfolk:
Atlantic grey seals ashore at Horsey in Norfolk, England, in order to moult last years coat. Grey seals are growing in numbers on England’s east coast as a result of environmental safe havens and cleaner North Sea waters. The grey seal colony at Horsey in Norfolk. Access to the seals’ beaches is restricted over the breeding season.

COOL POSE...... A young seal strikes a relaxed pose as it reclines on an ice floe. The crabeater seal dried off on the large block of floating sea ice for a quarter of an hour - completely unmoved by a boat sailing just a few feet away.
These photos were captured from the boat by wildlife photographer Nick Dale at Portal Point in Charlotte Bay, on the west coast of the Antarctic Peninsula. SEE OUOR COPY FOR DETAILS.
