All buildings in the dismantling area of Liede village are expected to be razed on Dec. 4, 12 days ahead of the schedule. Guangzhou launched a campaign to reconstruct five urban villages including Liede, Xian, Tan, Kangle and Yangji villages. Local government first launched the urban village renovation in Liede Village, planning to make it become a tourism spot of ancient south China houses. Urban villages are villages that appear on both the outskirts and the downtown segments of major cities, including Beijing, Shenzhen and Guangzhou.
