Julia Lemigova puts a new twist on the Stern murder
Photo taken in Las Vegas, USA during the Miss Universe Contest in 1991. The investigation into Stern's murder in Geneva on February 28 has taken a drama tic twist with Julia's claim of a link between the crime and the death of he r baby five years ago. In October 2004, Julia Lemigova, first runner-up at the Miss Universe 1992 Contest, met Cecile Brossard, the woman who has confe ssed to killing her lover, the prominent banker Edouard Stern. She suspects that Brossard might have been using blackmail to get at his money. Lemigov a was Edouard Stern's mistress between 1997 and 2000. In 1999 Lemigova told Stern that she was pregnant but he never recognized the child as being his. Her son Maximilien was born in New York in October that year. In early 2000, Maximilien fell seriously ill and died in hospital on March 10. Doctors fou nd internal injuries which suggested that he could have been shaken. Lemigov a wonders now whether the baby's death was accidental or if the nanny was pa id to murder him.
