Travel Argentina
March 25, 2024 - Buenos Aires, Argentina: A couple of tango dancers perform in Plaza Dorrego to earn some extra money. This square is considered a national monument, as it was the site where the people of Argentina celebrated their Independence in 1816. It is, therefore, the heart of San Telmo, the oldest neighborhood in Buenos Aires. In the last government's Argentina, inequalities widened drastically due to severe cuts and austerity measures, to the point where even the International Monetary Fund (IMF) might be envious. The percentage of the population living at or below the poverty line rose to 57.4%, about 27 million citizens. The primary cause of this deterioration in living standards was the government's decision to devalue the peso, which, alongside other measures, deprived much of society of the ability to access basic goods. Public spending has been reduced by about a third, particularly in the areas of health, social security, and education. In the heart of Buenos Aires, hardship, poverty, exhaustion and despair are etched in the faces of ordinary people. (Maro Kouri/Polaris) (FOTO:DUKAS/POLARIS)

A workplace robot which buyers can customise to fill specific roles has been launched.
The HMND 01 is designed to provide efficient services across various industries including goods handling, picking and packing.
The company behind it says it could enhance automation levels in retail and manufacturing facilities, logistics and fulfilment centres, and warehouses.
UK-based startup Humanoid which is behind it, says the HMND 01 uses innovative mechanical design, advanced motion control, and cutting-edge AI for a “major step towards efficient human-robot collaboration.”
Founder Artem Sokolov set up the company to develop the world’s leading, commercially scalable, and safe humanoid robots.
The HMND 01 is 175 cm tall and weighs70 kg.
It can reach a walking speed of 5.4 km/h with an average runtime of 4 hours and a payload capacity of 15 kg.
Its main selling point is that it is said to achieve human-level or higher manipulation speeds for complex tasks and can navigate confined spaces with exceptional accuracy.
The robot’s hardware and software are designed with a modular concept.
Customers could incorporate different upper-body, lower-body, and end-effector configurations to ensure adaptability, better meet their requirements, and reduce costs.
For example there is an option for legs or a wheeled base.

A rocking chair inspired by the tentacles of a sea urchin has won a top design award.
The 68-legged base , with each leg at a different angle, lets a user shift their centre of gravity and rock back and forth.
It even comes with yellow cushions on the inside, reminiscent of edible urchin’s flesh.
US-based designer Yue Zhuo from Chicago, has christened the chair “SEAt Urchin”.
He said:” “This unique piece of furniture is designed to evoke the fluid motion of ocean waves and the organic form of sea creatures.
“The SEAt Urchin stands out as a one-of-a-kind furniture piece with its remarkable 68-leg design, offering a deceptively smooth rocking motion without any risk of toppling over. “
The seat and legs are made from maple and given a matte black finish.
The hand stitched seat cushions are attached using Velcro so can easily be swapped for ones of different colours, according to Zhuo.
The SEAt Urchin was a Bronze Winner at this year's worldwide A'Design Awards.

A weird new fan designed to cool off the legs and crotch area has hit the market in Japan.
The summer months in the country get so hot and humid the idea is to keep the whole body refreshed.
It can also be used in the bathroom after a shower or bath.
Japanese gadget maker Thanko calls the device Noreru Senpuki, which translates as “Fan that You Can Stand On.”
It looks like a set of bathroom scales but instead of a digital readout showing weight, it is equipped with vents that shoots up jets of cool air.
Travelling at speeds of up to 35 meters per second, the airflow is positioned to blow over the lower half of the body.
The fan has two settings, low and high power, and turns on simply by standing on it.
The unit also has drainage holes so anyone dripping out the shower or sweating profusely can use it without damaging the internal workings.
The fan is priced at 12,800 yen which is around €85 euros and it has a 120kg load capacity.
