The seventh largest diamond ever found has been recovered from a mine in Africa.
The Canada-based Lucara Diamond Corpsaid the massive 1,080.1 carat / 216 gram diamond, was found at its Karowe mine in Botswana.
The stone measures 82.2 mm long and is described by experts as a Type IIa top white gem of high quality.
It isn the seventh-largest diamond ever discovered and one of the top five largest colourless diamonds of all time, according to the Natural Diamond Council and Only Natural Diamonds.
The Karowe mine has produced some of the largest diamonds of all time.
Roughly half of the ten largest diamonds discovered have been found at the site.

One adorable Barbary Lion cub are seen playing at Olomouc Zoo, Czech Republic. The cub were born to mum Lilly on 11th May and today were spotted indulging in a spot of rough and tumble before being given a thorough clean by mum Lilly. The male lion cub called Thembi. The name means "Hope".
