Two migrants from Kuwait arrested after being found wandering up the M1
Exhausted, thirsty and disoriented, two migrants were arrested after they were spotted wandering along the M1.
They are believed to have risked their lives by hiding under a lorry as it came across the Channel and headed north. The two men, believed to be in their late twenties or early thirties, were spotted close to the Toddington service station in Bedfordshire yesterday. They had set off along the northbound carriageway, with lorries rumbling past just a few metres away. But they appeared to have turned back after getting to Junction 12 and realising that they were heading away from London. Signs told motorway traffic to slow down as there were pedestrians on the carriageway. When they arrived back at the service station, they begged people for water, before police turned up and arrested them. One of the two men said they were from Kuwait.
