The Princess, who was guest of honour at the festival, made a special 373 mile train trip from Edinburgh to London to attend the Festival.
Taking part in the parade were 500 musicians, 200 International folk dancers, and dozens of novelty vehicles. 26 London stores have entries among the 50 floats. The seven day campaign from 26 May to 7 June, is to prove to foreign buyers that London is the shopping centre of the world.

The Royal children, with their father, and Crown Prince Carl Gutav of Sweden, are on a sailing holiday up the Scottish west coast. The yacht's four and a half hour journey through the canal was watched by a large crowd, and then Bloodhound sailed out into the Sound of Jura, her destination unknown.

The homes were founded by Princess Mary Adelaide, Duchess of Teck, in July 1871, and Princess Margaret's visit was made on the occasion of the 80th Commemoration of the foundation.

P.O.W'S STAMP , IN KING'S COLLECTION TO BE SHOWN IN LONDON
A Stamp, designed and drawn by a Hong Kong postal official while a prisoner in Japanese hands, and now included in the King's collection, is among many valuable exhibits to be shown at the international Stamp exhibition opening at Grosvenor house, London, on may 6.
The stamp was designed by Mr.W.E.Jones during internment in Stanley camp. One slight alteration was made in the design-the King was shown in profile instead of full face. over half a million stamps, valued at two and a half million pounds, are to be shown in the exhibition.

KING AND QUEEN WELCOME FRENCH PRESIDENT AT VICTORIA
President Vincent Auriol of France and his wife were greeted by the King, the Queen, Princess Elizabeth and the Duchess of Gloucester when - with the Duke of Gloucester - who had met them at Dover - when they arrived at Victoria station, London, at the start of their three-day visit to Britain.
The combined party then drove in state procession over a decorated route to Buckingham Palace.

PRINCES HAVE A RIDING LESSON IN THE PARK
Among the young riding pupils now to be seen in rotten row, Hyde Park, London, Prince William, aged 8, and Prince Richard , aged 5, sons of the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester. Their appearances astride a pony in the Row, which started only recently, are their first in public as horsemen, though they have previously had riding instruction on the Duke's estate at Barnwell.
The Princes are pupils of the Cadogan riding school, where all the Royal children have learned to ride. The King and Princess Elizabeth are among former pupils.
PICTURE SHOWS:- Prince Richard had his feet set correctly in the stirrups by riding master Mr.W.Meads, in Rotten row. Standing on the mounting block is Prince William - with an encouraging hand on his younger brother's shoulder.
