See story SWSCmacro - by Sarah Ward These stunning macro photos show insects 'looking like Disney characters' because their faces can be seen in so much detail. Dad-of-two Paul Fraser, 37, took up the hobby during lockdown when he began visiting a nature reserve near his home in Stirling. The environmental consultant was keen to show his kids close up pictures of insects to spark an interest in nature. The ultra-detailed pictures show dragonflies, damson-flies and fluffy bees, in minute detail by standing around six inches away. British bees are flying less than half as much because of pesticides, warns new research. Those exposed to neonicotoids - the world's most common insect repellant - muster only a third of their normal distance, according to the study. Laboratory experiments found journeys were significantly shorter - and took less time - than peers left unexposed. This could reduce the area in which colonies can forage for food by up to 80 percent, say scientists. *** Local Caption *** 29728330

Neue Forschung warnt: Britische Bienen fliegen weniger als halb so viel wegen Pestiziden / 2019 *** Flight mill with bee. See National News story NNbees. *** Local Caption *** 29728329

Ein Schwärmer bei der Nahrungssuche in einem Blumengarten / 210818 *** An incredibly rare flight and feeding shot of a hummingbird hawkmoth feeding on a bright pink flower in a garden in Shropshire. Wildlife photographer Andrew Fusek Peters used a shutter speed of 1/5000 of a second to capture the sharp and intimate pics of this migrant, day-flying moth that is often compared to a hummingbird as it feeds on flower nectar. With its wings beating at 85 beats per second it is also incredibly hard to freeze in flight. Andrew was fortunate to have his camera on hand to capture the incredible shots when he spotted the moth for the first time in over five years. / action press *** Local Caption *** 27499208
