NEWS - Kenia: Herstellung des tödlichen Getränks Changaa in Nairobi
A hot steam containing remains of a fermented mixture of changaa are blown out of a barrel after distillation in Madhare Slums.
The low wages and lack of job opportunities in Kenyan slums has forced many residents to turn to high consumption of the most toxic traditional brew well known as changaa . It is mostly prepared using some of the most dangerous chemicals like methanol to increase the strength of alcohol content in it. Due to government struggles and failure to stop the high consumption, the drink was later legalized in September 2010 by the Kenyan Government. It has since become one of the most practiced business for most poverty stricken families so as to make ends meet. (Photo by Donwilson Odhiambo / SOPA Images/Sipa USA) *** Local Caption *** 30814318

The perfect wedding outfit for a domestic goddess: artist Susie MacMurray has created a bridal dress made from 1400 Marigold rubber gloves turned inside-out and titled 'A Mixture of Frailties'.

More a work of art than an actual item of clothing, it has been on display at the Tuille House Museum & Art Gallery in Carlisle, Cumbria. Fiona Venables, the House's curator, told the Daily Telegraph: "The work demonstrates both the young girl's dream of a white wedding and the mundane reality of household chores."

The dress took only a few weeks to make and the artist designed and put together two more items using 14,000 latex balloons weaved together: 'Gladrags', a pink, long-sleeved dress, and 'Icon', a metallic blue strapless ball gown with a long train.

Although priced at £15,000 the wedding dress is not on sale but rather has been included in New York's Museum of Art and Design's new exhibition called "Second Lives: Remixing the Ordinary".

Running from September 2008 to February 2009, the work of 51 artisans like MacMurray will highlight how recycled, discarded, mass-p...

The Gap Autumn /winter Show In London Today.. It May Seem As Though Summer Has Finally Arrived But These Pictures Are A Preview Of What We Will Be Wearing In The Autumn - Courtesy Of Believe It Or Not Gap. This Preview Of The New Collection Shows That If You Think Of Gap As Off-duty Yuppies In Basic Khakis And A White T-shirt Then You'd Better Get With The Programme. If The Us Chain Has Its Way This Autumn We'll All Be In Slim (note Slim Not Skinny) Black Trousers A Layered Combo Of White Shirts Black Ribbed Polo Necks And Chunky Grey Sweaters - Topped With Cute Knitted Berets. The Show In Covent Garden Was A Mixture Of London Street Style And Parisian Left Bank Elegance With A Heavy Dose Of Beatnik Thrown In For Good Measure. Think Audrey Hepburn's Look In Funny Face. Gap's High-end Style Cool Injection Came Courtesy Of Some Of The Industry's Biggest Players. Marie-amalie Sauve The Influential Fashion Director At French Vogue Who Is Also A Consultant For Balenciaga And A Stylist For Gucci Styled The Show Working With Casting Director Russell Marsh. It Was Not Just For The Girls Either. Sauve Suggested The Same Look For Boys To The Perfect Soundtrack Of Blondie's One Way Or Another. A Monochrome Palette Played On Simple Lines And Just The Right Amount Of Volume. All Nicely And Androgynously Teamed With High-shine Patent Brogues And Low Strapped Clogs And White Socks - Very Reminiscent Of Early Nineties Calvin Klein Jil Sander And Prada. 'the Show Was A Beginning Statement For The Departure Of The Khaki And The Jean. They Are Chic But Need To Be Worn In A Cool Street Way ' Said Sauve Back Stage. Gap Is Renowned For Pulling In Heavyweight Celebrities For Its Advertising Campaigns Including Sarah Jessica Parker Lenny Kravitz Madonna And Missy Elliot. Last Night's Show Featured Stellar Models Anne- Catherine Bequane (jil Sander And Balenciaga Campaigns) And Milana Keller (calv...
