UTRECHT - a driver is texting and calling in the car. Motorists holding a phone are automatically registered and photographed by the system. The photo is immediately forwarded to the Central Judicial Collection Agency, where an extraordinary investigating officer ascertains whether there has been a violation. Apping with a phone in the holder also turns out to be dangerous. Motorists who text with their phone in the holder while driving are just as dangerous in traffic as when they hold their mobile in their hand.

A huge Serb Orthodox church in Pristina, Kosovo, unfinished and derelict. During the Yugoslav wars of the 1990s Serbia aggressively tried to reclaim Kosovo, enticing ethnic Serbs to return to the land of their ancestors, building Serb Orthodox churches. This was a newly built large orthodox church in the very centre of Pristina. Once Serbia lost the fight for Kosovo, and Serbs mostly left, Kosovars left the unfinished church to rot. Destroying it would send an unwanted message to the world and finishing it would be pointless since there are practically no Serbs left in Kosovo outside several isolated enclaves, says Oleg

What if You Could See Wi-Fi...
What If You Could See WiFi?

Although we use it often, we rarely think about how it works. Now, American artist Nickolay Lamm has worked with former NASA Astrobiologist M. Browning Vogel to produce these colourful depictions illustrating wifi waves.

One image featuring New York's Central Park shows an idealised wifi data transmitted over a band that is divided into different sub-channels, which are shown in red, yellow, green and other colours.

Another image featuring Washington D.C.s National Mall depicts Wifi waves travelling through space as rapid, data encoded pulses or waves. A 'freeze frame' of these pulses shows that the pulses are about 6 inches apart.

Nickolay explains: "Wifi routers or antenna can be attached to trees, buildings, lamp posts and other structures. A typical outdoor router can project its signal 300 feet or more from its location. Objects such as trees can obstruct the signal such that it has to be augmented by multiple wifi routers placed in different positions."

Usman Khan, 28, from Stock-on-Trent, Staffordshire, who has been identified by Scotland Yard as the man responsible for yesterday's London Bridge terrorist attack which resulted in a man and a woman being killed before Khan was overpowered by members of the public armed with makeshift weapons and shot dead by police. Anti-terror police have raided a house in the Staffordshire area which was lilnked to Khan. Before the attack Khan had been attending a seminar in FishmongerÕs Hall about prisoner rehabilitation and had threatened to blow up the building before he began his murder spree. Khan had been released from prison in December 2018 after he was one of nine British based terrorists who were jailed on February 9 2012 after they admitted terrorism offences, including four who pleaded guilty to planning to detonate a bomb at the London Stock Exchange. Khan was given an indeterminate sentence and ordered to serve at least 8 years when he admitted attending operational meetings in Roath Park, Cardiff, and in a Newport country park, fundraising for terrorist training, preparing to travel abroad and assisting others to travel abroad. They were arrested in December 2010 and were set to stand trial at Woolwich Crown Court. The four Stock Exchange plotters admitted engaging in conduct in preparation for acts of terrorism and the five others pleaded guilty to other terrorism offences. The terrorist plotters were inspired by al-qaeda, particularly by the preachings of the late radical extremist Anwar Al-Awlaki. They planned to send five mail bombs to various targets during the run up to Christmas 2010 and a "Mumbai-style" atrocity. A hand-written target list found at one of their homes had the names and addresses of London Mayor Boris Johnson, two rabbis, the Stock Exchange and the US embassy

A British photographer has cheated death after a drag car slid out of control and headed straight at him.

The high-powered machine, capable of 0-60 in under a second, careered off a wall THREE feet in front of Andy Willsheer, but, amazingly, he kept snapping away.

The resulting images show the 3,000hp dragster - or top alcohol funny car - on a terrifying collision course with 62-year-old Andy - with one hair-raising frame featuring a spinning wheel seemingly about to smash his lens.

And pictures taken from the opposite side of the track show just how close the dragster came to crushing plucky Andy.
