'Not just weeds': how rebel botanists are using graffiti to name forgotten flora
'Not just weeds': how rebel botanists are using graffiti to name forgotten flora. Pavement chalking to draw attention to wild flowers and plants in urban areas has gone viral across Europe – but UK chalkers could face legal action. Workers at Heacham Lavender, near Hunstanton, are hard at work, beneath the hot sun, tending to the purple lavender.
The hot weather has not only encourage the purple flowers to bloom, but also the weeds, and Heacham Lavender try and pull out all the weeds by hand, to make harvesting easier.

LA: NEW ORLEANS 7 YEARS AFTER HURRICANE KATRINA
24 August 2012. New Orleans, Louisiana, USA.
Lower 9th ward. An overgrown For Sale sign amidst the weeds of a vacant lot in a tale of two cities. Hurricane Katrina devastated the area smashing almost all residences following the collapse of the levees. Whereas Brad Pitt's 'Make it Right Foundation' has provided a stimulus for rebuilding a limited area of the Lower 9th ward, much remains to be done as the 7th year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina approaches on August 29th.

NEW ORLEANS: FIVE YEARS AFTER HURRICANE KATRINA
27 August 2010. New Orleans, Louisiana, USA.
Blight. Lower 9th Ward. Hurricane Katrina 5 years later.
Worlds apart but just blocks away. Hurricane Katrina dereliction continues to be consumed by voracious tropical vegetation just a few streets from 'Make it Right' foundation homes. Brad Pitt's vision of internationally designed, eco friendly, award winning architect inspired homes are increasingly replacing the dereliction as residents slowly return home. The neighbourhood is full of open green space with empty lots, lots and ruined houses for sale, infamous 'X' marks a reminder of the frantic search for survivors.
