A high security storage facility for car owners and collectors to keep their prized vehicles safe has opened — and they are not even allowed inside.
High end classic models and current supercars have price tags running into millions.
Despite that many are stored in insecure, climatically unsuitable places including home garages, old barns and public car parks.
The new facility has been opened near the UK’s Gatwick Airport by start-up Birch aims to change that.
The founders are car collectors who struggled to find suitable accommodation for their valuable assets.
They discovered that world class secure storage can reduce an owner’s insurance premiums by sometimes more than the cost of the storage.
The new facility is designed to hold up to 590 cars at a cost of around €129 euros a week.
It has already become the approved storage provider for a major luxury carmaker.
