EU should impose 'serious consequences' on Azerbaijan if risks to Nagorno-Karabakh Armenians escalate, says senior politician
David McAllister, the chair of the European parliament's foreign affairs committee, has told the Guardian that the EU should impose serious consequences if there are attempts to remove Karabakh Armenians from their homes.
"This weekend's developments in Nagorno-Karabakh underscore the serious concern for the Armenian population there," McAllister said.

'I will never go back': death stalks the exodus from Nagorno-Karabakh
More than 6,000 ethnic Armenian refugees have left region following Azerbaijan victory.
Goris, a resort town near the border with Armenia that is now at the centre of an exodus of refugees that could swell up to 120,000 people. Every hour, hundreds more refugees are coming into the city in a convoy leaving Stepanakert, the Nagorno-Karabakh capital, that snakes for nearly 100km to the mountain serpentine that leads into Armenia.
After housing thousands of refugees, the border towns appear in danger of being overwhelmed, with city hotels and hostels fully booked and refugees crowding around municipal centres with all their possessions tied to the roofs of their cars.
