    Fran Sandham
Fran Sandham was an editor at Rough Guides for several years, and worked in bookselling and in the voluntary sector before that. Inspired by the legendary crossings of the great explorers, he left the daily grind of London to undertake an extraordinary adventure. Fran decided to walk alone and unsupported from the west coast of Africa to the east ? 3,000 miles from the Atlantic coast of Namibia to the Tanzanian shores of the Indian Ocean.

Traversa is his account of the hardships and hilarity he experienced during his epic solo journey on foot across Africa, from the Skeleton Coast through Namibia, Zambia, Malawi and Tanzania. It was published in October 2007.

Fran Sandham now lives in London, and divides his time between freelance writing, editing and public speaking.
