    REPORTAGE - Tabakernte in Bulgarien
August 13, 2018 - Razlog, Sofia, Bulgaria - People, members of two families, collecttobacco leaves at sunrise in a cropfield near the town of Razlog some 145 km south from the Bulgarian capital Sofia, Aug. 13, 2018. They migrate every summer from their native village of Ribnovo (about 44 km to the east of Razlog) to Razlog where the soil is better for growing tobacco. Tobacco production is an extremely important branch of Bulgarian farming. Almost all the tobacco produce in Bulgaria is intended to be exported. The cropfields where tobacco is grown in Bulgaria are as large as 43 000 dka. Growing tobacco is hugely difficult especially during planting and collecting the leaves. On the contrary the farmers usually are forced to sell their tobacco production at very low prices- 7leva (3,5 euro) in year 2017. A family needs to grow tobacco on at least 8 dka so as they would be able to fund living. Photo by Petko Momchilov/Impact Press GroupNurPhoto (FOTO: DUKAS/ZUMA)

Like the buses the trucks are meant to resemble a beautiful bride. By looking at the various motifs, designs and use of colours onboard these trucks you can tell which part of the country it belongs to. This particular truck makes use of greens and reds most so it probably belongs to Sindh - the province in which Karachi is. Buses or trucks that have murals of mountains and peacocks most likely belong to the mountainous north of the country

Sochi, Russia Winter Olympic Sites (Mountain Cluster)
The 2014 Winter Olympic ski runs may be rated double black diamond, but they're not quite as steep as they appear in this image of the skiing and snowboarding sites for the Sochi Winter Olympic Games, acquired on Jan. 4, 2014, by the Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) instrument on NASA's Terra spacecraft. Rosa Khutar ski resort near Sochi, Russia, is in the valley at center, and the runs are visible on the shadowed slopes on the left-hand side of the valley. Height has been exaggerated 1.5 times to bring out topographic details. The games, which begin on Feb. 7 and continue for 17 days, feature six new skiing and boarding events plus the return of the legendary Jamaican bobsled team to the winter games for the first time since 2002.
In this southwest-looking image, red indicates vegetation, white is snow, and the resort site appears in gray. The area imaged is about 11 miles (18 kilometers) across in the foreground and 20 miles (32 kilometers) from front to back. The image was created from the ASTER visible and near-infrared bands, draped over ASTER-derived digital elevation data.
With its 14 spectral bands from the visible to the thermal infrared wavelength region and its high spatial resolution of 15 to 90 meters (about 50 to 300 feet), ASTER images Earth to map and monitor the changing surface of our planet. ASTER is one of five Earth-observing instruments launched Dec. 18, 1999, on Terra. The instrument was built by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. A joint U.S./Japan science team is responsible for validation and calibration of the instrument and data products.
The broad spectral coverage and high spectral resolution of ASTER provides scientists in numerous disciplines with critical information for surface mapping and monitoring of dynamic conditions and temporal change. Example applications are: monitoring glacial advances and retreats; monitoring pote

  • CHINA-XINHAI REVOLUTION-THE RISE OF ASIA (CN)

CHINA-XINHAI REVOLUTION-THE RISE OF ASIA (CN)
(111008) -- BEIJING, Oct. 8, 2011 (Xinhua) -- A train runs along the Qinghai-Tibet Railway in the section of Golmud, northwest China's Qinghai Province, June 28, 2006.

At present, Asia is playing a significant role in the word which no one can ignore. The emerging economies like China and India, have been the most active growth pole of global economy. Financial Times has said, the shift of economic and geopolitical clout towards the East, symbolized by the rise of China, is part of a border movement of capital, innovation and economic muscle to Asia.

However, the situation was totally different in the 19th century, nearly all the Asia was in humiliation and poverty. Following the Opium War of 1840, China gradually became a semi-colonial and semi-feudal society, and foreign powers stepped up their aggression against China. The feudal rule became increasingly corrupt, the country was devastated by incessant wars and turbulence, and the Chinese people suffered from hunger and oppression.

In 1911, protests and armed uprisings took place across China against the monarchy of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). These events led to the toppling of the country's last emperor and the founding of the Republic of China on Jan. 1, 1912.

The Xinhai Revolution in 1911 led by Dr. Sun Yat-sen put an end to the autocratic rule that had existed in China for several thousand years, and gave birth to Asia's first republic. Many countries of the continent were greatly influenced by the Xinhai Revolution and met a wave of national liberation and independence. Russian revolutionary and socialist leader Vladimir Lenin praised the revolution "the awakening of Asia".

This revolution greatly boosted China's social progress, all the Chinese people were awakened at the fact of mind, and the ideas of democracy were widely spread.
