FILE PHOTOS | Germany's richest woman Susanne Klatten blackmailed for millions
Kitzbuehel, December 2008 / (FILE PHOTOS) / It is one of the most spectacular lawsuits in the recent times of Germany's court history. Germany's richest woman Susanne Klatten blackmailed for millions. According to reports Susanne - daughter of the late BMW mogul Herbert Quandt - went to Munich authorities after being blackmailed last January by a Swiss national named Helg Sgarbi. The Swiss man - who was an acquaintance of Susanne - reportedly threatened to release images of them together unless she paid him millions of Euros. Klatten was told to deliver seven times 7 million Euros or 49 million all at once in a cardboard box to the underground garage of the Munich hotel where they used to meet and make love. At that point, Klatten hired a private detective and informed the police. 44-years-old Sgarbi was sentenced to 6 years in jail on the first day of the lawsuit but his lawyer is going to appeal against the judgment. The next meetings at Munich's Regional Court are called on March 31th and April 1st.
Susanne Klatten holds a 46-percent stake in the car manufacture company BMW along with her mother and brother. Business magazine Forbes listed Susanne Klatten as the 68th richest person in the world in 2007 with a personal fortune of about $9.6 billion.
