I really loved how the white lichen covered stones contrasted with soft green grassy tussocks, and tough it would a nice foreground with Cul Beag as backdrop. The steep westerly cliffs of Creag nan Calman can be seen on the left. Unfortunately the sun would rise behind Creag nan Calman, and the best compositions were found around this spot, behind the cliffs.
Stunning photos of the Scottish Highlands, Britain - 2016

A photographer has released a stunning series of photos that show the raw beauty of the Scottish Highlands.
Scotland-based photographer Camillo Berenos has spent the past few years travelling though the highlands, capturing breath-taking pictures along the way.
Camillo said: "Unlike many who undertake such projects, I haven't focused on a single defined geographical area, though the majority of my photographic forays have taken me to the Western and North-Western Highlands.
"From the vast but also familiar landscapes of Rannoch Moor and Glen Coe, to the relentlessly steep slopes of the hills in Kintail and the rugged and shapely mountain massifs of Torridon and Wester Ross, I have spent many hours in the hills, with specific destinations often primarily being determined by where the weather forecast looked most favourable."

LATVIA/ Skrunda / 2007.Abandoned Soviet military base after the collapse of the USSR. The fresco on the wall beside the portrait of Lenin describes a war scene in Afghanistan. The red shadow profile in the foreground picture is of an 'exemplary' soldier from the time of the Civil War. He is wearing a felt hat known as a boudionovka. Skrunda was the site of two Hen House radars built in the 1960s and a Pechora radar built in the mid 1980s.The station was responsible for scanning for incoming ballistic weapons from a westerly direction. Russia completed its Baltic withdrawal in 1994, with the exception of Skrunda, Russia's most westerly radar installation and a main link in its air defence network. Latvia grudgingly agreed that Russia could maintain the Skrunda facility, allowing time for the construction of a new radar in Belarus. Russia handed back the territory of the Skrunda radar station in October 1999, and the last Russian military facility in Latvia ceased to exist.
Eric Lusito - Traces of the Soviet Empire
FULL COPY: http://www.rexfeatures.com/nanolink/p8ug
These haunting photographs show the remnants of the once all-powerful Soviet empire.
They are the work of Eric Lusito, who spent six years travelling throughout the former Soviet world from East Germany to Mongolia, from Poland to Kazakhstan to seek out remains of the military installations that embodied the ambition and the might of the USSR.
Describing himself as working like an archaeologist, the French photographer says his project "Traces of the Soviet Empire" is a photographic record of the land and architecture - haunted by the symbols and history of a once powerful Empire.

Katie Holmes and daughter Suri Cruise out and about in Cape Town, South Africa - 07 Nov 2013
It was a decidedly low key Katie Holmes who took daughter Suri for a visit to the Two Oceans Aquarium in Cape Town, South Africa today. Katie is currently in the country filming 'The Giver', but took some time out to spend with Suri. In ripped jeans and a pink jumper, with her hair piled messily on her head and apparently make-up free, Katie blended in easily with the rest of the tourists - who didn't spare the a-list star in their midst a second glance. And when it came to lunch there were no posh restaurants for this pair, instead they brought takeaway fish and chips and ate sitting outside in the sunshine. Suri was even seen offering her leftovers to a statue of former SA President, FW de Klerk.

Woman lives with two 17st Vietnamese pot-bellied pigs, Laughterton, Lincolnshire, Britain - 18 Sep 2013

These Not So Little Piggies ... Live At Home With Me
Janey Bryne shares her home with two rather unusual housemates - a pair of pot-bellied pigs.
Sharing her home with 17st porkers Meeka and Molly wasn't quite what Janey had in mind when she originally bought what she thought was a micro pig back in 2009.
The 45-year-old receptionist paid GBP 350 for Meeka and thought that she would grow no larger than a small dog.
However, when Meeka began to get bigger and bigger she soon found out that she had actually been sold a Vietnamese pot-bellied pig.
And with Meeka loving to hog the sofa it soon caused friction between Janey and husband David.
Despite this the pair were won over by Meeka's porcine charm and even bought her a pal in the form of Molly last year.
The couple, who also have two dogs, now spend around GBP 100 a month on pig food and GBP 350 every three months to have Meeka and Molly's trotters trimmed.
