Daily Life At Rosignano Solvay Coastal City
The sign at the entrance of Rosignano Solvay marks the gateway to the village. In the background, the cooling tower of the Solvay Chemical Plant is visible. The Solvay chemical plant has a deep and lasting impact on Rosignano, a coastal town in Tuscany, where industry and environment coexist in a complex balance. The town's striking white beaches owe their color to calcium carbonate and other industrial byproducts discharged by the plant into the sea. The plant also influences the town's social fabric, building schools, housing, and public infrastructure that still define much of Rosignano today. (Photo by Lorenzo Carmellini/NurPhoto)

New designs for a lunar lander to help US space agency NASA put man back onto the Moon has been unveiled.NASA’s, longtime space contractor Lockheed Martin has sow design concepts with the aim of getting to the Moon by 2024The US company says it can be ready within the next five years — as long as it has enough resources. The vehicle consists of two elements a lander portion that can travel down to the ground, and an ascent vehicle that can lift astronauts off the Moon’s surface. The lander is meant to travel to and from a new space station that NASA wants to build around the Moon called the Gateway. If all of these elements are created, astronauts would travel to the Gateway from Earth and then take the lander from the station to the Moon. The ascent vehicle would then bring them back to the station.

OPS: Lockheed Martin's concept for a crewed lunar lander is a single stage, fully reusable system that incorporates many of Orion’s flight-proven technologies and systems. The lander would accommodate a crew of four and 2000 lbs. of payload on the surface for up to two weeks while returning to the Gateway without maintenance or refueling on the surface.

REPORTAGE - REPORTAGE - Noch immer treffen monatlich tausende Flüchtlinge in Griechenland ein
Greece is seeing record numbers of migrants arriving on its shores, the highest since 2016. The eastern route to Europe for those fleeing Syria and beyond has been absent from headlines in recent years, but the Greek islands of Lesbos, Chios, Samos, and Leros, received more than 3,500 migrants arrived in August this year alone. As numbers crossing from Libya to Italy drop unexpectedly, is Greece again becoming the frontline for refugees trying to reach Europe?

After coordinating with the Hellenic Coastguard the German NGO ship Sea Watch disembarks the refugees at Kos harbour where they are met by the Greek authorities. Kos, Greece. 10.09.2017.

As numbers crossing from Libya to Italy drop unexpectedly, is Greece again becoming the frontline for refugees trying to reach Europe?
