Rato Macchindranath Chariot Procession In Nepal
Nepali revelers watch the Rato Macchindranath chariot procession in Lalitpur, Nepal, on May 1, 2025. According to the lunar calendar, the longest chariot festival of Nepal begins on the 4th day of the bright fortnight of Bachhala, the seventh month in the lunar Nepal Sambat calendar, but this year it does not fall as per the set-out rule. One popular legend states that once Guru Gorakhnath comes to the city of Patan but is not acknowledged by the people living there. As the commoners do not offer him food and ignore him, Guru Gorakhnath captures all the serpents and holds them captive. As the ''Naags'' or serpents responsible for the precipitation are held captive by Guru Gorakhnath, Patan experiences a drought. Advisors of the then king of Patan, Narendra Dev, are asked to bring the teacher of Gorakhnath, Lord Macchendranath, from Assam. Hearing about the teacher's presence in the town, Guru Gorakhnath stands up from his seat, letting the serpents loose, which brings rain to the city, ending the drought. Adoring Rato Macchendranath for his feat, locals of Patan start a chariot procession in the city since 897 AD. It is held annually and taken around the city, reminding people about his deeds. French car maker Renault has built a head-turning concept electric car designed to push the limits of aerodynamics and energy efficiency with jet aircraft-like styling cues.
Called the Filante Record 2025, Renault says the bold looks are inspired by aeronautical design cues and brand history.
It was inspired by three classic models from the marque, a 40 CV des Records built between 1925 and 1926, Nervasport des Records from 1934 and Etoile Filante made in 1956.
Despite the hue size, the Filante isa single-seater with exceptional aerodynamics and cutting-edge technology.
The Ultraviolet Blue paintwork looks blue or violet depending on the reflections of the light and the viewing angle.
The protective aerodynamic bubble of the cabin is said to bring to mind a fighter jet.
At the same time, every detail of the bodywork has been optimised to reduce drag, with features that bring to mind the curves and shapes of high-performance aircraft.
The front and rear wheel fairings reinforce the car’s monolithic appearance and contribute to the uninterrupted flow of the body/
The visible screws on the bodywork are inspired by aircraft construction techniques and make the car lighter while giving a contemporary, high-tech look.
The cockpit was inspired by aviation and space travel for a pared-down environment.
The driver’s seat is made from stretched canvas, similar in style to a hammock, for a lightweight design with optimum support.

Campers, festival goers, hikers , anglers and picnic lovers could all soon be sitting more comfortably in the great outdoors — on a portable couch.
The comfy seating folds down into the size of a backpack for easy transportation.
The foam-cushioned seat folds down to a 71 x 46 x 28 cm package when not in use and weighs 8.3 kg.
The back cushion angle can be adjusted and the couch can even be laid out flat for stargazing or as a mattress.
The Camp Couch has a simple design that unbuckles and unfolds into a two-seat ground cushion with individual reclining seat backs supported by kickstand-style panels. I
t's made from weatherproof polyester designed to hold up to the unpredictable terrain and weather of adventuring.
The edges are reinforced with a synthetic rubber calledHypalon.
The US designed seating is available for preorder at a fraction under $300 USD / €275 euros with first deliveries planned for the end of July with international shipping available.

A driver disguised as a car seat took the wheel — to see how pedestrians react to driverless vehicles.
The novel study found that people trust certain visual prompts more than others when deciding whether to cross in front of an autonomous car.
The aim of the study was to understand how pedestrians respond naturally to self-driving vehicles.
The car was also equipped with a visual display board fixed on the front known as an eHMI.
These displays included expressive eyes and a face, accompanied by short text-based language such as “I have seen you” or “I am giving way”.
The car was driven around the campus of the UK’s University of Nottingham over several days with the so-called “ghost-driver” concealed as a front seat.
The eHMI was controlled by a team member sat in the back seat.
