We were human beings: UK families seek apology over historic forced adoptions.
Liz Harvie, photographed at home in Surrey. Harvie has been campaigning to highlight the recognition of the impact of forced adoption.

Last week Liz Harvie spoke in parliament about the painful impact of the policy of taking babies from unmarried mothers.

Liz Harvie was 16 years old when she discovered her name was actually Claire Watts.

ÒIt was mind-blowing,Ó said Harvie, now 48. ÒI was reading about a different person born in a different part of the country. Technically, it was me.Ó

Adopted by a couple who renamed her Elizabeth, Harvie always knew she had come from Òanother ladyÕs tummyÓ and wondered why she had been given away. But, as she would later discover, she had not been abandoned by choice.

Taken from the arms of her sobbing mother at 10 days old, Harvie was one of thousands of victims of forced adoption in the UK.

Adopt a plant from The Hampton Court Palace Flower Show at Morden Hall Park, Morden, Surrey, 27th July 2018. Not many people consider what happens to the plants once shows like the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show come to an end. An important part of any such show is how they live on and now the public have the chance to take a plant for free. This incredibly innovative plant recycling scheme allows several thousands of plants and materials from one of the world's most prestigious flower shows to be re-homed. The plants will be hosted at the National Trust's Morden Hall Park and, on Friday 27th and Saturday 28th July, members of the public will have the opportunity to adopt a plant. There will also be adoptions organised for local school and community groups.

A photographer with a love affair for rescue dogs has taken a humorous set of images featuring them with something they love ... peanut butter! Greg Murray's heartwarming 'for the love of peanut butter' photo series takes a simple concept - photographing dogs determined to lick peanut butter off their noses - and produces hilarious results. Ohio-based Greg, 34, has taken nearly 100 photos of dogs to date for the series and, as a rescue animal advocate, he always tries to photograph as many rescues as possible. As such his latest collection all involves pitbull mixes who are former rescue dogs or who are still waiting to be rehomed. Many of them have endured difficult early lives.

The adventures of Fuzzberta and MiniGuineaPig, Pacifica, California, America - Jul 2015

These gorgeous guinea pigs have gained thousands of fans - thanks to their hilarious costumes.

Fuzzberta and her big sister MiniGuineaPig - MGP for short - have appeared in outfits ranging from Harry Potter to Abraham Lincoln.

The furry girls both girls, MGP is 4 and Fuzzberta is 2 and a half, have also appeared as cowgirls, Pokemon, a shark, a chef and even a Star Wars Ewok.

Their owner, Monica Wu, says she started simply snapping pics of Fuzzberta with her phone, and the idea escalated.

The graphic designer, who lives in Pacifica, California, explains: "In the beginning it was just silly cell phone shots of her looking cute, then tiny props started working their way into it, and after a while I switched to my actual camera.

"Fuzzberta is incredibly photogenic. So she's really easy to photograph. Also, she'll let you do anything as long as you're feeding her a steady supply of carrot chips."
