Vincent the cat has been test-driving his new legs, which have been given to him by Iowa State Unviersity, America.

After being born with only two front legs, Vincent, aged 3, has lived a limited life.

He was adopted by owner Cindy Jones after she found him at an animal shelter when he was a kitten.

Thanks to new technology and design developments, Vincet now has a pair of alloy-titanium legs, that allow him to run and walk, like a normal cat.

The titanium-alloy legs are top-of-the-range, and were attached by vet Dr Mary Sarah Berg, who works in the Iowa State University Lloyd Veterinary Medical Centre.

In the photos, Vincent can be seen enjoying himself and strolling around the exam room.

Carlow the fire station cat gets a good view on top of a fire truck
Carlow the fire station cat, New York, America - 08 Dec 2015
    FULL COPY: http://www.rexfeatures.com/nanolink/rpmm

Meet Carlow the firefighting cat. Well, not quite firefighting, you are more likely to find this rescued male moggie asleep on a pile of crew jackets, or asleep on a fire truck, or under one for that matter.

Four-year-old Carlow lives in a firehouse in Yorkville, Manhattan after being found and adopted by firefighters of Engine 22, Ladder 13.

He was an underfed stray kitten found hiding in a tyre at a mechanic?s shop when they found him.

"The idea was that Carlow could help keep mice out of the firehouse. Ever since he's been here, we don't see many mice at all," comments a fire station spokesperson, who says they are 'Carlow's PR'.

Mostly, found dozing, there is some excitement : a disgruntled Carlow is pictured being given a wash along with the comment: "Throwback nightmare to the time they tried to wash me".

Supersize Spaniel Slims Down To Win Pet Fat Fighters Competition
*STRICTLY EMBARGOED UNTIL 00.01 Thursday 4th October 2012*

A dog whose former nickname was 'Jumbo Jack' has been crowned the UK's pet slimming champ for 2012 after shedding nearly one third of his bodyweight.

The seven-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and 16 other pets have undergone a physical transformation as part of a six month diet and fitness regime run by veterinary charity PDSA.

At the beginning of the competition the Spaniel tipped the scales at 20.5kg - double his ideal weight - and six months on has lost a remarkable 6.4kg, which is 31% of his bodyweight and bringing him to a far healthier 14.1kg- trimming 20cm off his waist.

Owner Rose Welsh, 52, adopted the already super-sized Spaniel back in January of this year, she said: "When Jack first came to us he was morbidly obese and could barely walk.

"I couldn't bear to see him in such a sad state so I took him to the vet to talk about a diet and fitness plan.

"Today he is a different dog and we call him Jumping Jack instead of Jumbo Jack, as he jumps every time he barks now. He is fit, healthy and happy - everything a pet should be - and we are absolutely thrilled."

Jack had been overfed and hardly exercised prior to being adopted by Rose, which had caused him to become deaf, as the extra fat blocked his ear canals. He struggled to walk more than a few steps, couldn't play and couldn't even bark.

PDSA Senior Veterinary Surgeon, Sean Wensley, added: "Having adopted a seriously overweight animal, Rose has done a wonderful job in managing Jack's food intake and safely increasing his exercise. As for Jack, he undoubtedly feels much fitter and happier, and has a greater life expectancy than when he was overweight."

Jack's achievement meant he also beat off 16 ot...

Boris Johnson was left hanging when he got stuck halfway down a zipwire at an event in Victoria Park.

The Mayor of London had to be pulled the rest of the way by teams on the ground at around 13:30 on Wednesday 1 August.

Boris Johnson was heard shouting "Get me a rope, get me a ladder" after he was the first person to use the zipwire.

He continued "I think the brakes got stuck" and then asked the large crowd that had gathered underneath him, who were snapping him on their mobile phones "Are we going to win a gold medal for the zip wire?"

Twilight Fan Gets Characters Tattooed on Back
Cathy Ward is so obsessed with cult series Twilight she has spent more than GBP 2,000 covering her back with tattoos of the vampire stars.

Supermarket worker Cathy, 49, saved up for months to pay for a painful
22 hours in the tattoo artist's chair to re-vamp her image.

She was desperate to get the permanent reminder of blood-sucking superstars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson - because she wanted to say fangs for helping her lose five stone.

After sinking her teeth into the vampire series she dropped 14 dress sizes in just six months.

Cathy ditched pasties and pizza in favour of getting stuck into the popular books and flicks.

She managed not to neck fatty foods despite working in the cake department of her local supermarket.

Obsessed Cathy, from Reading, Berks, said: "A friend of mine got me the first film on DVD because I was feeling low.

"Once I started I just couldn't stop myself. I had to go out and buy all the books and films. I got hooked. It became my way of rewarding myself.

"I wanted a permanent reminder of the amazing series so I got a small tattoo and that turned into what I have got now."

Despite having her whole back covered in Stephenie Meyer's creations the sun has not gone down on her inky obsession.

She plans to save GBP 2,000 more to spend another 12 hours under the needle as she eclipses her whole torso with the gothic tribute.

Cathy, who has shrunk from size 24 to 10, added: "There are still a few bits to do. I am going to get my arms done before my 50th birthday in summer.

"I love Robert Pattinson. I want to tone up so I can get his character Edward Cullen on my stomach.

"The way I look at it I could be spending the money on going out drinking and eating but instead I'm spending it on something I am really pass...

GREAT GREY OWL SWOOPS TO CONQUER

These pictures show a Great Grey Owl as it swoops on a tiny meadow vole trying to scurry across a snow-covered field.

The wise bird has a face shaped like a radar dish, which helps it locate its prey buried up to one foot below the snow.

The 16cm (6 inches) vole stood little chance as the bird launched its silent attack with its wings spread 140cm (4.5 feet) wide.

It had been sitting in a tree overlooking the field in Bobcaygeon Ontario, Canada, in temperatures of -15 degrees Celsius.

Photographer Jody Melanson, 47, travelled an hour to get the pictures after receiving a tip-off that the Great Grey Owl was there.

He said: "I found the owl after five minutes of searching. He was sitting in a tree hunting.

"When he heard or saw something edible he swooped down and grabbed the vole.

"Great Grey Owls can hear prey a foot below the snow.

"The owls facial disk is shaped like a radar dish and they use their ears to pinpoint the prey's location.

"There is no chase. The owl hears, silently swoops in and pounces on the prey.

    "The owl seldom misses."

He added: "My main love is being at one with nature and spending time photographing and getting to know more about the subjects I pho...
