An anthropologist of education, Abu El-Haj had an article cancelled by Harvard Education Review after it was previewed on the back cover of a previous issue. Her research explores belonging, rights, citizenship, and education raised by globalization, transnational migration, and conflict, and the censored article was dedicated to education in and about Palestine.
