Airlander 10, World's largest aircraft flies for the first time since crash, Bedfordshire, UK - 10 May 2017
The world's LONGEST aircraft has flown for the first time this afternoon (Wed) since it crashed on its second test flight nine months ago.
Planespotters looked on excitedly as the GBP 25 million Airlander 10, which is part plane and part airship, took to the skies in Bedfordshire.
The 92-metre long aircraft has undergone extensive repairs at Cardington since it nosedived into a field in Bedfordshire after its second test flight in August last year.
No one was injured in the accident, but the cockpit was destroyed and the airship has since been fitted with giant emergency inflatable "airbags", which are stowed during the flight and now protect the cock pit on landing.
In a statement Hybrid Air Vehicles said today: "We are pleased to announce that the Airlander 10 has taken off on its first flight in 2017.
