An out of this world custom-built Rolls-Royce has been unveiled — with a hand painted roof lining showing the universe.
The customer who commissioned the vehicle, the company’s ultra luxurious Cullinan SUV, said they wanted to create something the space-loving family would remember forever.
The vehicle, officially called the Cullinan Cosmos, features the first fully hand-painted headliner ever created for a Rolls-Royce.
It was planned and painted entirely freehand by one of the marque’s in-house artists on the company’s fibre-optic Starlight illuminated headliner.
It depicts an interpretation of the Milky Way, the hazy band of stars and cosmic mist visible in the night sky, colour-graded to complement the Bespoke interior palette.??To create the luminous cloud formations, the artist used more than 20 successive applications of acrylic paint, building depth and dimension with a variety of brushes.
To achieve the mist effect, the artist used a makeup brush so the lightest layer of pigments to dry delicately on contact.
Once the painting was completed it was sealed and the fibre-optic perforations individually punched and positioned by hand to complement the contours of the artwork.
The interior is said to be inspired by the stillness and wonder of deep space.
The commissioning clients worked with Rolls-Royce designers to create a unique Star Cluster motif, which is embroidered on the door panels and headrests.
