  • Kalash, ancient tribe of Pakistan in Taliban region

Kalash, ancient tribe of Pakistan in Taliban region
May 14, 2024- Kallas Valleys, Pakistan: Two young Kalash women wash their clothes in the river, enjoying their sisterhood, chatting in the bright sunlight to the music of the Chitral River. Kalash women can marry the man they fall in love with, study what they want at the universities of nearby cities, respect the tradition of their tribe and some like to the village, wear their traditional, colorful costumes during holy days and feasts experiencing the unique freedom of women in the entire country. Women stand out for their beauty, they are proud, free with obvious sociability and active participation in the democratic processes of the Community. They dress in a long black tunic (Sangachs) embroidered with colorful geometric shapes on the hem, on the edges of the sleeves and on the jacket. They are adorned with necklaces of colored beads, the number of which indicates the degree of their economic status. Their hair is combed into five braids, where the main one, in the center of the head, has been braided since a young age and has never been cut. It is said that Alexander the Great, on the eve of a battle, doubted its outcome. However, the battle was won thanks to the unexpected intervention of women. To honor their help, he called a meeting and asked his men to give their helmets to the women, who had proven more worthy. A general then placed his helmet Shusut on the head of the female leader. In memory of this, the "Shusut" was established and Kalash women wear at all times to honor the respect given to them. The Kalash Valleys are located in the mountains of Pakistan, just a few kilometers from Taliban-controlled areas, where Spring Celebration is an annual event. Kalash is a small ethnic group, believed to trace its origins back to Alexander the Great, lives here in relative isolation. For centuries, invaders forced them into remote areas, where they fiercely resisted the Arab conquerors and their religion. (Maro Kouri / Polaris) (FOTO:DUKAS/POLARIS)

Sud's law: how the soap with the champagne price-tag won the pandemic
From posh restaurants to aspirational homes, Aesop handwash is everywhere Ð helped by Covid. But will the bubble burst?

The pandemic has been a boom time for handwashing.

Aesop's little amber bottles popping up in smart restaurants and hotel rooms a few years ago: they were glass ambassadors from a faraway country of refined, futuristic beauty products.

Then came coronavirus. Whatever else might be said of the pandemic, it was boom time for handwashing, with Covid creating excellent trading conditions for Aesop, and specifically its handwashes.

Aesop was perfectly positioned to take advantage of the new lather lust. With the world focused on hygiene.

Who needs perfume? These new-wave products make your hair smell like wet herbs, roses and candles
Scented hairsprays are competing with fine fragrance Ð and starting to make perfumes look like poor value.

When is a perfume not a perfume? When itÕs a hairspray so thoughtfully scented that a waft of lacquer could legitimately pass for fine fragrance.

Perfumed haircare is on the rise.

  • ‘Clients want us to clean the air’: how the pandemic took hygiene to a whole new level.
The past year has turbo-charged our relationship with cleanliness, raising expectations and turning many into germophobes. Has it gone too far?

ÔClients want us to clean the airÕ: how the pandemic took hygiene to a whole new level. The past year has turbo-charged our relationship with cleanliness, raising expectations and turning many into germophobes. Has it gone too far? These days there are no funny looks, the pandemic having made germophobes of many of us. Between March and May of 2020, UK sales of liquid disinfectant were 74.9% higher, and bleach 32% higher, than the year before. Until the vaccine came along, hygiene seemed to be our best defence against a deadly enemy that threatened our entire way of life, and we diligently held that line. What did you do in the war effort, Mummy? I triple-sanitised the door handle, darling.
Cleanliness is once again up there next to godliness, as the Victorian embroidery samplers proclaimed. Or is cleaning the new rockÕnÕroll? Still life cleaning image.

NEWS - Brasilien: Pressekonferenz des Ex-Präsidenten Lula da Silva
March 10, 2021: Former President LUIS INACIO LULA DA SILVA, during a press conference at the Metalworkers Union, in the city of Sao Bernardo do Campo, this Wednesday (10). The Supreme Court overturned the former President's convictions for corruption and money laundering. Here’s a barking mad way to dry off a pet dog after a bath or a run in the rain. It’s an inflatable body bag which can be hitched to a standard hair dryer. The Puff-N-Fluff bag simultaneously contains dog odours and comfortably circulates warm air that makes a damp canine far more comfortable in far less time with far less drama. The bag comes in three different sizes, the largest of which sports two hoses for bigger dogs. The device was invented by Florida schoolgirl Marissa Streng when she was nine years old. It all started from a school project . Even though the instructions were simple, the task was far from easy. She came up with the unique drying system after bathing her pet pug Mojo and attempting to towel dry him, only to find that he was still soaking wet.

OPS: The Fluff-N-Dry dog drying system. It comes in four sizes to fit most dog.Pictured here is inventor Marissa Streng with pet pug Mojo
