The world's fastest military planes - the Spitfire I, an all-metal low-wing monoplane and the Vickers Wellesley, a long-range bomber and general purpose aircraft - were demonstrated at the Eastleigh Aerodrome in Southampton. Built for the Royal Air Force by the Supermarine Aviation Works (Vickers) Limited, both machines are equipped with retractable undercarriages. Spitfire I, a day and night fighter, is equipped with wing flaps. Both machines are to be on view for the first time at the R.A.F. Pageant at Hendon on 27th June.
