The Center Point Curvaceous Chicks put their hands together before their Granny Basketball League game against the Des Moines Hot Pink Grannies at the high school gymnasium in Alburnett, Iowa on Saturday, March 29, 2008. Open to women over the age of 50, and played by rules modified from those established in the 1920's, granny basketball has become a mini-phenomenon in Iowa and other midwestern states, as women of a certain age, seeking a bit of fun and exercise, have turned to the six-on-six game that was the avatar of women's modern-day basketball. The rules include proscriptions against running or jumping (hurrying is allowed), physical contact, more than two dribbles per possession per player, and the showing of excessive flesh.
