'The Continuing and Lamentable Saga of the Suicide Brothers' film screening, Soho Hotel, London, Britain - 29 June 2009
Keira Knightley and boyfriend Rupert Friend were out and about in London last night to attend the screening of a new short film. 'The Continuing and Lamentable Saga of The Suicide Brothers' was written and produced by, and also stars, Friend and Tom Mison. And, while she normally commands millions for a film appearance, Keira also appears in the film as a fairy godmother. Directed by the Brownlee Brothers, the film features costumes by Oscar winning costume designer Michael O'Connor. It follows that tale of two brothers (Friend and Mison) who try, unsuccessfully, each day to kill themselves. They try a different method everyday but continue to fail as they forever overlook the presence of their frustrated fairy godmother (Knightley).

'Doomsday Clock' hands being moved by the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists to reflect worsening nuclear and climate threats, The Royal Society, London, Britain - 17 Jan 2007
Mandatory Credit: Photo by Nils Jorgensen / Rex Features (633209l)
Stephen Hawking. The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists (BAS) will move the minute hand of its closely watched 'Doomsday Clock' to reflect growing concerns about a 'Second Nuclear Age' marked by worsening threats, including: nuclear ambitions in Iran and North Korea, unsecured nuclear materials in Russia and elsewhere, the continuing 'launch-ready' status of 2,000 of the 25,000 nuclear weapons held by the U.S. and Russia, escalating terrorism, and new pressure from climate change for expanded civilian nuclear power that could increase proliferation risks. This is the first time that climate change has been factored into an adjustment of the hands of the clock.

Streaker Erica Roe Modelling A Special Bra In Bristol For The Bbc Television Programme 'looking Good Feeling Fit' Erika Roe (1957-) Also Known As The Twickenham Streaker Is Remembered For A Topless Run Across The Pitch Of Twickenham Stadium During An England Vs. Australia Rugby Union Match On 2 January 1982. It Has Been Described By The Bbc As 'perhaps The Most Famous Of All Streaks'. Roe Who Later Claimed To Have Been Inspired By Alcohol Ran Onto The Field During Half Time Exposing Her 40-inch Bosom. Roe And The Friend Who Joined Her Streak (sarah Bennett) Were Corralled By Police Officers On The Field One Of Whom Covered Roe's Chest With His Helmet While Leading Her Off The Field. While Roe Was Not The First Or The Last Streaker At An Athletic Event In 2007 The Independent Of London Declared That Her 'memorable' Streak Made Her A Suitable Icon To Represent All Such Streakers In Their Article On Sports Interruptions. The Event Prompted Manchester Confidential To Dub Her 'the Most Famous British Streaker'. Roe's Continuing Notoriety Saw Her Appear On The Nostalgic British Tv Programmes After They Were Famous (1999) And 80s Mania (2001). She Was Working At That Time In A Bookstore In Petersfield Hampshire But Moved With Her Husband And Children To Portugal To Become An Organic Farmer Of Sweet Potatoes Date Unknown.

After a series of intense winter storms, and at very low tide, the eerie remains of the 'lost' bronze age oak forest appear along the beach at Borth, just north of Aberystwyth on the west Wales coast. The trees give some credence to the enduring legend of the 'sunken kingdom' of Cantre'r Gwaelod that according to legend was lost under the waters of Cardigan Bay. Much more of the sand that has usually covered the stumps of these ancient trees has been washed way over the winter, and there is some concern locally that the recently completed multi-million pound sea defence scheme to protect the low lying village is exacerbating the situation, and possibly threatening the continuing preservation of the forest.
