Superstar Adele broke down in tears as she turned the tables on US TV chat show host James Corden.
The multi-million selling singer surprised British-born Corden, a close friend, by hosting the final Carpool Karaoke session before Corden leaves to turn to the UK.
The popular slot , which has now been going eight years, saw Corden invite celebrities into his car to talk to them and sing along to some of their biggest hits.
Adele ,34, had been on one of the first episodes back in 2015 for The Late Late Show hosted by Corden,44.
Eventually the slot ended up having its own separate broadcast.
The surprise began with Adele creeping to Corden’s Los Angeles mansion with help from his family and heading for his bedroom with a film crew.
She woke him by bashing a giant pair of cymbals together.
When they eventually climbed into the waiting Range Rover car, the pair kicked off the surprise by joining in on Adele’s hit Rolling  in the Deep.
The Grammy winner then went teary eyes as she told how  Corden, James , also holding back tears, had helped her through the split by going on holiday together.
She told him a verse in her song I Drink Wine from 2021 album 30, was inspired by Corden when he later turned to the singer for advice as he was having his own tough time in life.

Photographer Valerio Berdini captured Japan's spectacular cherry blossom in all its glory.

The photos, taken in 2013, have been released ahead of the upcoming spring blossom, which begins each year at the end of March.

Valerio said: "Each year, thousands of people fill the parks to hold feasts under the flowering trees, and sometimes these parties go on until late at night. In Japan, cherry blossoms symbolise 'clouds'. Due to their nature of blooming en masse, besides being an enduring metaphor for the ephemeral nature of life. The transience of the blossoms, the extreme beauty and quick death, has often been associated with mortality."

Lindsay Lohan Probation Revocation Hearing, Beverly Hills, America - 06 Jul 2010
Hollywood star Lindsay Lohan has been sentenced to 90 days in jail during a probation hearing today. After hearing the verdict the actress burst into tears and was comforted by her lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley. The aim of the probation revocation hearing was determine if the actress had violated the terms of her probation. Lohan spent 84 minutes in jail in 2007 after she pleaded guilty to a number of alcohol and drug related offences. She was originally sentenced to three years of probation. She was forced to ask for a year long extension last October after failing to complete her alcohol-education courses. Her probation was then revoked in May after she missed a court appearance while at the Cannes Film Festival. Following her failure to appear a judge ruled that she should be fitted with an ankle alcohol monitor. At today's Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel ruled that Lohan had violated the terms of her probation and sentenced her to 90 days. Lohan must surrender on 20 July to start her sentence.
