Top Guns: The Best U.S. Air Force Pictures of 2013
These stunning images show a year in the life of the largest air force in the world.
The United States Air Force has operations all over the world and enlisted photographers are there to capture the action.
The service's specialist Airman magazine has curated the most impactful imagery from 2013 for a special issue entitled 'Year in Visuals'.
As would be expected, the gallery features awesome images of aircraft, but there are also personal military stories including a striking image of Capt. Candice Adams Ismirle preparing for cancer radiation treatment, while Staff Sgt. Ron Blodgett is shown in tears as he embraces his son after returning from a deployment in Southwest Asia.
Managing editor Tech. Sgt. Chris Powell explains: "We pride ourselves on publishing the powerful imagery and videos Air Force photographers and broadcasters produce every day. These professionals travel the world, sometimes putting themselves in harm's way, to bring you the visual story from an Airman's perspective.
"Our goal is to make you feel as close to the story as possible, being right there with Airmen providing security in Afghanistan, a team of Airmen hiking the highest mountains on Earth or showcasing the Air Force's many aircraft conducting operations throughout the world."

UNICEF goodwill ambassador David Beckham visited Sierra Leone from 18th-20th January to call international attention to the issue of child survival.
From 18-20 January 2008 footballer and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador David Beckham was in Sierra Leone to call international attention to the issue of child survival, and to highlight the 26,000 children who die around the world of mostly preventable causes. His visit preceded the launch of UNICEF'S State of the World's Children 2008 report. According to the report, in Sierra Leone, under-five mortality and maternal mortality rates are the highest in the world; one in four of the country's children die before reaching their 5th birthday. While in the country, Beckham visited a UNICEF-supported heath centre in the town of Makeni to learn about maternal and child health interventions. He also visited community projects promoting disease-prevention efforts, as well as a feeding centre for severely malnourished children, before finding time to play football with some of the youngsters he met. He also visited the capital of Freetown to meet children affected by HIV/AIDS.

U.S. Navy 'swim calls' - 2016
When you're job is sailing the seas, the World is your swimming pool.
These amazing pictures show sailors and marines from the U.S. Navy taking part in what they call 'swim calls'.
Most recently pictured earlier this month (Feb) are those cooling off by jumping from into the Indian Ocean from guided-missile cruiser USS Antietam.
With the ship anchored, Swim Calls are seen as a refreshing break from the job of keeping high-tech battleships running.
The activity often occurs in warm foreign waters, such as the Mediterranean, Arabian and South China seas, the Indian and Pacific oceans.
Suffice to say, there will be people tasked with shark watch, from the ship and rigid-hulled inflatable boats.
Swimmers are able to clamber back onto the ship via landing docks or by climbing cargo nets.

Eunice Shriver Dies At 88
EUNICE SHRIVER DIES AT 88
Eunice Shriver, sister of JFK, has died at the age of 88.
The mother of Maria Shriver Schwarzenegger had been ill for some time and had been admitted to Cape Cod Hospital in Massachusetts after suffering several strokes.
Sister to Senator Edward 'Ted' Kennedy, Eunice was known for her extensive work with the disabled, having founded a world movement for rights of the mentally handicapped in 1962, which would eventually develop into the Special Olympics.
All this was inspired by the predicament of her older sister Rosemary Kennedy, who was left severely mentally disabled after a prefrontal lobotomy intended to correct behavioural problems cut away vital parts of her brain.
Eunice Shriver, whose husband Sargent organized the US Peace Corps under his brother-in-law's administration, started a special camp at her home in suburban Maryland outside Washington DC in 1962.
The intention was to "explore" the capabilities of "adults with intellectual disabilities" for sports and physical activities, according to the Special Olympics' website.
In 1968, just weeks after the assassination of another brother, Robert, who was running for the Democratic presidential nomination, Shriver launched the first International Special Olympics Summer Games.
They attracted 1,000 individuals with intellectual disabilities from 26 US states and Canada to compete in track and field and swimming.
By 2008, the Special Olympics celebrated its 40th anniversary, drawing nearly 3 million athletes from more than 180 countries to the event that followed the regular Olympic Games in Beijing.
Shriver's influence on her brother, the former president, is credited with the push in 1963 to pass the first law in US history to protect and support the rights of the mentally di...
