Royal author Omid Scobie made his first UK television appearance to defend his new book against claims it is an attack on the monarchy.

He also again denied being a mouthpiece for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Scobie, 42, was on ITV news magazine programme This Morning where he discussed the tome with presenters Alison Hammond and Craig Doyle.

The presenters described it as “ the bombshell book that's been dominating
the headlines … which dishes out fresh allegations and some familiar ones too about the royal family and their relationships with the Sussexes.”

Doyle said to Scobie the reaction had been “kind of fierce “ and the public “were unhappy” while reviews “haven't been great.”

Royal author Omid Scobie wonders whether two British royals accused of speculating about the skin colour of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s son Archie, could be named in future.

The 42-year-old British journalist told USA news programme Nightline: “Unfortunately, those are two names that I have to keep to myself for now.

“But I do wonder if that might change over the future. It does seem that Harry and Meghan have decided to put that to rest.”

His comments came after the alleged  names were wrongly included in a Dutch version of his book, Endgame, released this week.

Scobie was speaking about letters said to have been exchanged between King Charles III and Meghan and mentioned in Endgame about the accusation.
