The Most Dangerous Street In Mexico City
November 27, 2025, Mexico, Cdmx, Mexico: In the Alvaro Obregon district of Mexico City is the so-called 'Devil's Descent,' a street with an enormous and extremely steep incline. While minor accidents have occurred, involving motorcycles and cars sliding down the slope, others have been serious, such as when a soft drink truck lost its brakes and control, crashing from one side of the street to the other, knocking down light poles and the wall of a house, injuring two people. Authorities in the area will begin work to replace the concrete surface of the street with granular pavement to improve tire traction and prevent accidents like the most recent one. This street, located in the La Mexicana area, has become a tourist attraction due to its steep incline and the accidents that have gone viral on social media. Top Guns: The Best U.S. Air Force Pictures of 2013

These stunning images show a year in the life of the largest air force in the world.

The United States Air Force has operations all over the world and enlisted photographers are there to capture the action.

The service's specialist Airman magazine has curated the most impactful imagery from 2013 for a special issue entitled 'Year in Visuals'.

As would be expected, the gallery features awesome images of aircraft, but there are also personal military stories including a striking image of Capt. Candice Adams Ismirle preparing for cancer radiation treatment, while Staff Sgt. Ron Blodgett is shown in tears as he embraces his son after returning from a deployment in Southwest Asia.

Managing editor Tech. Sgt. Chris Powell explains: "We pride ourselves on publishing the powerful imagery and videos Air Force photographers and broadcasters produce every day. These professionals travel the world, sometimes putting themselves in harm's way, to bring you the visual story from an Airman's perspective.

"Our goal is to make you feel as close to the story as possible, being right there with Airmen providing security in Afghanistan, a team of Airmen hiking the highest mountains on Earth or showcasing the Air Force's many aircraft co...

    A Whole Lotta Otter
An otter said to be the fattest in Britain is slimming down thanks to a new diet, but still has his 'bingo wings' and 'otter boobs' to lose.

Greedy couch-potato Daze began gaining weight quickly after nabbing the lion's share of the food during feeding time at Escot Estate in Devon.

Staff noticed that out of the family of six it was male Asian Short Clawed Otter Daze who was always first to pounce on the raw beefburgers.

He would then gobble down the food, barely giving his family a look in.

And all those extra calories, coupled with Daze's lack of exercise, soon took their toll.

Keeper Kerry James said: "After a meal the others play around and chase each other up and down but Daze just goes back to bed".

However, keepers have now put Daze on a strict diet to help him shed his excess pounds.

Kerry added: "Now we cut up his food and scatter it around his large enclosure so he has to compete with the others and hunt out his food.

"Now they are all on a low fat diet and Daze is also made to stretch for some of his food."

The new eating plan has already had effect but the new slimmer line Daze has been left with a lot of spare skin - particularly on his arms and chest.

Keepers hope that this will reduce as he continues to lose weight and becomes more active.

Kerry said: "We encourage the otters to work and play every day, Daze has lost weight and we are very proud of how he is coming along".

    Supersized Pets Fight The Flab
A pet fit competition run by a veterinary charity will see 18 of the UK's fattest animals get in shape.

Pet Fit Club run by the People's Dispensary for Sick Animals (PDSA) encourages overweight cats, dogs and rabbits to lose weight.

Specialist vets will be guiding the owners of each of these supersized pets on their journey to good health by providing a balanced diet and tailored exercise plan.

The contestants - 11 dogs, five cats and two rabbits - are carrying a combined excess weight of more than 24 stone - the equivalent of 380 tins of dog food, 35 average-sized cats or 50 Yorkshire Terriers.

All of the finalists fall into the category of obese or morbidly obese and desperately need to lose weight to improve their quality of life.

Sean Wensley, PDSA Senior Veterinary Surgeon, said: "Excess pounds can contribute to a number of serious health conditions and, sadly, it does reduce life expectancy. But the good news is that it's never too late to make positive changes to a pet's diet and lifestyle."

This year's 18 finalists include a line-up of pets who have become accustomed to a variety of unhealthy foods including a 'custard cream loving' dog called Alfie; a 10.2kg Scottish cat called Maverick who is 85% overweight; food thief, Deco - a canine who likes cake but is carrying 57% extra body weight; Romeo the Labrador who has a penchant for roast dinners who is 47% overweight.

Annual Maldon Mud Race, Maldon, Essex, Britain - 25 Apr 2011
Jo Brand and Sean Lock were left almost unrecognisable after taking part in the Maldon Mud Race in Essex. Famous and non famous faces alike ended up covered in mud after the mucky annual event. Watched by more than 10,000 spectators, the 250 taking part in the wacky event raced each other 500-yards (457m) across the mud filled bed of the River Blackwater. While some managed to wade across in just five minutes others took almost an hour to squelch through the thick black mud. Originally, the race had been due to take place on 28 December but had to be postponed due to the extreme cold conditions. The event began in the mid-1970s when local pub goers would race each other across the river to a waiting barrel of beer before consuming a pint of beer and racing back.

Surgery Helped Me To Lose 12 Stone And Three Metres Of Skin
After becoming so heavy that she broke the seat in her car 24 stone (336lbs) Christine Morris knew that drastic measures were called for.

Thanks to a gastric band the 41-year-old from Oxford went on to lose 12 stone before having three metres of excess skin cut off during full body lift surgery.

According to Christine she has always struggled with her weight but after losing both her parents she really piled on the pounds.

Then, a few years later, her marriage collapsed and her weight crept up to 23 stone.

She comments: "Friends would ask me to go out with them but I always refused. I'd felt too fat to go out when I was married, now I was even bigger".

To make matters worse Christine was now so big that she even had to suffer the humiliation of having her car seat belt extended.

Then just a few months later - after her weight had peaked at 24 and a half stone (343lbs) - she was left mortified when she broke the driver's seat of her VW Golf while trying to get out.

She recalls: "I was utterly humiliated. It was the final straw.

"I'd reached my lowest ebb and was actually starting to think I would be better off dead. This was no life for anyone".

Simply unable to stop eating, at the end of 2008 Christine decided that a gastric band was the only answer.

"My sister Tricia was worried sick. After losing mum and dad we only had each other left. She told me I was risking my life.

"I honestly didn't care though because I knew I didn't want to go on as I was so I had nothing to lose. If it didn't work I would want to die anyway".

So Christine used her savings to book a GBP 4,000 operation in Tunisia.

She comments: "I love my job but I don't earn a lot so there was no way I could afford the operation in the UK".
