Army personnel drafted in as emergency cover for Olympic Games security, Olympic Park, London - 11 Jul 2012
The military has been asked to provide up to 3,500 extra troops to guard the London Olympics, amid concerns that private security firm G4S will be unable to deliver the number of staff it promised.

Ministers have been forced into the last-ditch move only a fortnight before the Games because they are concerned that G4S cannot guarantee it will be able to supply the 13,700 guards it was contracted to deliver.

    Passengers rest during airport delays
The Luggage That Turns Into A Couch
THE LUGGAGE THAT TURNS INTO A COUCH

Flight delayed five hours, all departure lounge seats taken, it's a nightmare many people have to endure.

But hanging around the airport might get a little easier thanks to a luggage set that transforms into a COUCH.

The suitcase collection is composed of three attractive suitcases and one backpack.

But when slotted together they become a trendy sofa on which to while away transport delays.

Dutch designer Erik De Nijs, 24, explains: "The 'suited case' is a project which is inspired by the idea of people waiting during their trip.

"People often go and rest sitting on their suitcases, that is the starting point of this design, so I created a living room couch.

"When a familiar object from home is taken with you on a trip you feel much more at ease.

"And which object is more familiar then your own comfortable couch."

Erik, part of design duo Nieuwe Heren, says he is now looking for a company to bring his design to market.
