NEWS - Griechischer Fischer rettete hunderte von Flüchtlingen im Mittelmeer
January 23, 2017 - Skala Sikamias, Lesbos, Greece - Images of the local fisherman in the tiny sea village Skala Sikamias, Thanasis Marmarinos, Greece, on 23 January 2017. He is saving refugees since 2005. Instead of fish, he pulled out people. In 2014 and 2015 he almost left his job to save refugees sacrificing personal and financial issues. Day or night he was saving refugees with his little fishing boat, Agios (Saint) Nikolaos. Many times he was just guiding the boats but other times collecting people or dead bodies. His boat was destroyed by the severe snow storms in Greece during January of 2017. Mr. Marmarinos was also nominated for the Nobel peace prize (FOTO: DUKAS/ZUMA)
