Crowds watching a beach volleyball match at the Olympics were treated to an encore when a spectator proposed to his girlfriend on the pitch in front of 15,000 people.
Tom Holt, 33, got down on one knee in the sand after the women's match between Spain and Italy and asked girlfriend Elfi Czinegeova, 32, to marry him.
Luckily she accepted, much to the delight of the crowd who clapped and cheered.
"I've been planning it for the last week," said Tom, a sales account manager from Brighton.
"It is an unusual setting but we are both amateur volleyball players and met through the game.
"We live 15 minutes from Brighton beach and live and breathe volleyball. It's our whole lives.
"I was reasonably confident she would say yes but you can never be completely certain and as it was in front of so many people I was very nervous.

Tom Holt, 33, got down on one knee in the sand after the women's match between Spain and Italy and asked girlfriend Elfi Czinegeova, 32, to marry him.

9-Year-Old 'Mini Monet' Earns Enough To Buy A House
A nine-year-old painter dubbed the 'Mini Monet' has earned enough from his artwork to buy a new family home.
And today (11 October) Kieron Williamson earned a further GBP 106,260 after his latest 12 paintings sold out in just ten minutes.
To date, the child artist has successfully sold 89 paintings in five exhibitions - with all of his shows being sell outs.
Before his latest sale two fans - Jo and Matt Windsor - even camped outside the gallery in Holt, Norfolk, where his work was to be shown.
And their dedication was rewarded when they got first pick of the prodigy's work - walking away with two paintings.
The most expensive of the works on offer was a GBP 15,595 painting of Suleymaniye Mosque in Istanbul, Turkey, which Kieron painted based on photos from the internet.
Normally, most of Kieron's work features local Norfolk landscapes and coastal scenes.
His latest collection also included paintings featuring a misty morning at Wells West Quay and frosty reeds adorning the ground at Thornage.
The youngster first started painting when he was just five years old and he was inspired by boats in dock during a family holiday to Cornwall.
His work first came on the market in 2009 when 19 of his paintings were sold for GBP 14,000 in a sealed-bid auction.
In August last year, 33 of his creations sold for GBP 150,000 in less than 30 minutes.
This allowed him to buy a family home in Ludham, Norfolk, where he now lives with his parents and younger sister.
