In response to the disorder a major investigation team was launched by the Metropolitan Police Service, codenamed Operation Withern. There are more than 100,000 hours of CCTV footage to view. Forensic and crime scene examiners have been working on more than 1,200 crime scenes. More than 350 DNA submissions and almost 300 fingerprint submissions have already been made to labs.
