    [?Owls Play Role In Conservation
Hoot, Yasmin and Jurudi are more than just cute, fluffy faces — they have an important role in conservation and education. The five-week-old barn owls were bred at Sydney private sanctuary Feathered Friends, where they are being hand-fed chopped-up mice and rats every few hours. But in just two months they will start flying within the safety of the sanctuary, and by 16 to 20 weeks they will be fully trained free-flyers. Trainer Ravi Wasan said the trio will play an important role in promoting the conservation of native birds of prey. “We’ll take them to schools and into classrooms and kids will learn about them, how they fly, think, look and about how to conserve them,” he said. The birds will also form part of the Hawkers Experience which “takes people with no relationship with these birds and introduces them so they connect with and understand, them, then spread the word”. “These particular barn owls have a great career ahead of them,” Mr Wasan said.] (FOTO: DUKAS/ACTIONPRESS) *** Local Caption *** 22602052
