    10th October 2024
    Runs to 2nd March 2025

emajendat, the first UK exhibition of Lauren Halsey (b. 1987, Los Angeles, USA). On view at Serpentine South from 11 October 2024 to 2 March 2025, the exhibition will transform the gallery into an immersive environment that responds to Serpentine’s location in Kensington Gardens.

For the past decade, Lauren Halsey has developed a distinctive visual vocabulary deeply rooted in the South Central neighbourhood of Los Angeles where she and her family have lived for generations. Through maximalist installations and stand-alone objects, Halsey archives and remixes the signs and symbols that populate her environment. She has described herself as obsessed with material culture. Her regular wanderings through her neighbourhood, in which she documents the changing streetscape, are accompanied by a gathering of objects, posters, flyers, commercial signs, slogans and tags that celebrate local businesses and the communities’ activism which she adds to her studio archive. These eventually find their way into her floor- and wall-based assemblages, and miniature dioramas embedded in her ‘funkmound’ sculptures. Central to the exhibition is a life-size version of Halsey’s signature vignettes, usually seen in miniature within sculptures or as intricately arranged tableaux. A prismatic floor and walls made from CD’s provide the setting for scaled-up figurines, funkmounds and a live water fountain. The artist’s first moving image work is presented alongside sand dunes and a bespoke wallpaper.

The artist’s first moving image work is presented alongside sand dunes and a bespoke wallpaper.

emajendat, the first UK exhibition of Lauren Halsey (b.

Halsey and ex-boyfriend Alev Aydin are pictured together for the first time since their split as they spend the day caring for their young child.
    EXCLUSIVE. Coleman-Rayner
Los Angeles, CA, USA. September 7, 2023
Halsey and ex-boyfriend Alev Aydin are pictured together for the first time since their split as they spend the day caring for their young child. The pair went their separate ways back in April after two years of dating and Halsey, 28 ? whose pronouns are she/they ? filed for full legal custody of their two-year-old son, Ender Riley, whilst simultaneously proposing joint legal guardianship and shared child-rearing expenses. It was later reported that she and Alev, 40, had struck up an amicable arrangement over visitation and shared parental duties and that seemed in clear evidence during their outing on the afternoon of September 11, 2023. Halsey, who was born Ashley Frangipane, seemed in good spirits and chatted freely with Alev in the summer sunshine whilst holding paperwork and sipping from a cool drink. The Small Shots co-creator was dressed casually in a sleeveless blue shirt, cute knee-length shorts and black shoes with white socks. Turkish-born Alev was ultra dressed down in a black T-shirt, paint splattered pants and white sneakers.

Reality star Kim Kardashian poked fun at her famous family as she made her debut hosting long-running US TV comedy sketch show Saturday Night Live. She began with a self-deprecating opening monologue that joked about plastic surgery, her infamous sex tape, her divorce from rapper Kanye West and her mother and sisters. She stepped out to rapturous applause wearing a figure-hugging pink catsuit with built in boots and gloves.Kim ,40 , even cracked jokes about her dad's old friend OJ Simpson and called her mum Kris Jenner's boyfriend Corey Gamble a gold digger. She began by obliquely referencing her infamous sex tape made in 2002 with her then boyfriend, singer Ray J.She began:” I’m Kim Kardashian-West and it's so great to be here tonight. I know, I'm surprised to see me here too."When they asked, I was like, 'You want me to host? Why? I haven't had a movie premiere in a really long time'."I mean actually, I only had that one movie come out and no one told me it was even premiering - it must have slipped my mom's mind."

OPS: Kim Kardashian on Saturday Night Live. In a classic Disney film spoof, Aladdin (Pete Davidson) has some concerns about taking the next step in his relationship with Jasmine played by Kim Kardashian , and ends up using his last wish from the genie of the lamp for a bigger penis.
