Document recovered from a Soviet military base abandoned after the collapse of the USSR.
1976 poster. Text reads 'Soviet officers are the loyal sons of the people'.
Eric Lusito - Traces of the Soviet Empire
FULL COPY: http://www.rexfeatures.com/nanolink/p8ug
These haunting photographs show the remnants of the once all-powerful Soviet empire.
They are the work of Eric Lusito, who spent six years travelling throughout the former Soviet world from East Germany to Mongolia, from Poland to Kazakhstan to seek out remains of the military installations that embodied the ambition and the might of the USSR.
Describing himself as working like an archaeologist, the French photographer says his project "Traces of the Soviet Empire" is a photographic record of the land and architecture - haunted by the symbols and history of a once powerful Empire.
The on-going project takes the form of three series: exteriors, interiors, and found photographs "images from another time, another space and another world".
What he found was colourful propaganda wall art, faded frescos of Lenin, discarded gas masks, and huge monuments, including those in the shapes of a soldier and a sword.

Touching photos capture the bond between homeless people and their loyal pets, America, June 2014

Touching Photos Capture The Bond Between Homeless People And Their Loyal Pets
These heart-warming images depict the love and affection shared between homeless people and their pets.
Photographer Norah Levine's 'Lifelines' series features a man called Jedd and his beloved dog Alice, who sits trustingly on his shoulders.
The 34-year-old photographer, from Austin, Texas, also photographed Jeremy with his loyal tabby cat by his side. She also shot images of Jessika and Joshua, who have tried their best to create a home with their cats and dogs.
Norah, who lives with her husband, two dogs and three cats, says she first explored her relationship with photography during a summer camp while in eighth grade.
After completing a degree in photography from Drexel University in Philadelphia, she started a portrait business specialising in pets and children. Norah began working closely with animal shelters to use her photography for animal welfare.
For this project she discovered a programme called 4PAWS (For People and Animals Without Shelter) which is run by Animal Trustees of Austin (ATA) and located in Austin.
ATA's 4PAWS program provides free sterilisation services, vaccinations, and veterinary services to the pets of the homeless citizens of Central Texas.
Norah explains: "I have been fortunate to be able to use my photography to support animal welfare causes for many years. Animals are an integral part of my life-personally and professionally.
"When I learned about the 4PAWS program I was inspired to capture the connection between animal and owner from a positive perspective, as a personal project."
Amster worked with her to help coordinate subjects and produce the audio testimonials that accompany the images.
