    ' PRINCESS ' SPREADS HER GIANT WINGS AT COWES

    A 140-ton monster of the air was seen a stage nearer completion at Cowes, Isle of Wight, as the tail-planes and tail fins, together with a portion of the wings were erected by the huge hull of a Princess (S.R.45) flying boat.
    The tail-plane sban is 77 feet., and it covers an area of about 1,000 square-foot. The fin and rudder cover an area of about 600 ft.². The Princess flying-boat now under construction by Saunders-Roe, Ltd., Cowes, for B.O.A.C. are the largest ever built in Britain. Each powered by 10 Bristol ' proteus ' propeller turbine engines, the aircraft will have a cruising speed of 380 miles an hour and a still air range of 5,500 miles, with accommodation for 105 passengers. Wingspan of a Princess is 219 foot.6 inches: length is 148 foot.

    To give Britain's an idea of life in present-day Greece, an exhibition of Greek handcraft and photographs is being held in the Chenil Gallery, Chelsea, London, beginning tomorrow.
    During the exhibition, a group of young women in traditional Greek costumes will act as guides.
    The costumes, which have been brought from Greece specifically for the exhibition, considered excellent examples of Greek embroidery.The photographs on show and other work from some of the finest photographers of Greece. They display aspects of the countryside, the antiquities, and industries of Greece. The handicraft exhibits include silver filigree, embroidery, and pottery work.
