A new hydrofoil mis set top make a splash — using electric power-enhanced pedal power to go skimming over the water.
The E-JetCycle has battery assistance to ease the burden on the rider's legs.
The machine has a trimaran-like layout with  a pair of stabilising hulls around the middle hull containing the cockpit .
The user stretches out to pedal rather than sit upright which is said to help make the vessel easier to balance.
The E-JetCycle's main central hull is 3.4 m long and contains a padded bucket seat, steering controls and an adjustable pedal box.
The two stabilising hulls make the boat more user-friendly.
The wide arms that connect them to the centre hull double as swim platforms, allowing the rider to easily jump off into the water and climb back on.
The electric system is integrated within the pedal box and offers up to 200 watts of motor assistance.
The rider can select from different levels of e-assist, and the battery is designed for up to three hours of runtime.
Side levers provide control of steering and foiling action.

'Levels are dropping': drought saps Zambia and Zimbabwe of hydropower
Vast human-made Lake Kariba is at near-record low, causing daily power cuts and devastating two African economies.

Lake Kariba, the world's largest human-made lake. A punishing drought has drained the huge reservoir close to record lows, raising the prospect that the Kariba Dam, which powers the economies of Zambia and Zimbabwe, may have to shut down for the first time in its 65-year history.

Electricity pylons carrying power from the Kariba Dam to be transported across Zambia. Lake Kariba, the reservoir above Kariba Dam, can be seen in the distance.

Scientists reckon they have come up with a way of making a better tasting espresso coffee — by adding water when grinding the beans.

The fracturing and friction of coffee beans during grinding generates electricity that causes coffee particles to clump together and stick to the grinder.

Adding a small amount of water to beans immediately before grinding them.  reduces the static which means less coffee is wasted and there is less mess to clean up.

The team behind the research also showed that grinding with a splash of water produces more consistent and intense espresso.

Senior study author Christopher Hendon, a computational materials chemist at the University of Oregon said: “Moisture, whether it's residual moisture inside the roasted coffee or external moisture added during grinding, is what dictates the amount of charge that is formed during grinding.

"Water not only reduces static electricity and therefore reduces mess as you're grinding, but it can also make a major impact on the intensity of the beverage and, potentially, the ability to access higher concentrations of favourable flavours.”

The research group said these improvements to coffee extraction could have massive economic implications for the coffee industry.
