RETRO - Schirmfabrik in den 50er Jahren
Umbrellas For British
In the cutting room at James Ince 's umbrella works an employee cuts out of the segments which will go to form the complete cover to an umbrella . From the gay material , it will probably be a ladies' umbrella , or even a parasol for some eastern potentate. The cutter uses a template to ensure that he gets the right angles in his pieces of cloth

Harrison Ford as Rick Deckard from Blade Runner
Guess the Lego Movie Star
GUESS THE LEGO MOVIE STAR
The cold stare, the sharp suit, the machine gun, this tiny character certainly has a licence to kill.
Daniel Craig as James Bond is one of the amazing mini Lego figures created by movie mad Tyler Clites.
The Florida toy fan creates heroes of the big screen in Lego form - with some taking up to 30 hours to perfect.
A fan of the Danish building bricks since he was four, 21-year-old film student Tyler has to adapt and paint existing 'minifigs' available to create some of his favourite movie stars.
His amazing work includes 1.5 inch high versions of Jack Bauer from 24, The Terminator, Neo from The Matrix, Bruce Willis in Die Hard and Bruce Lee.
Tyler has even made a hilarious small-scale version of Doc Brown and Marty McFly from Back to the Future - complete with a DeLorean car.
Tyler says: "Most of my ideas come from movies and television, and I'm particularly interested in sci-fi.
"The time it takes to build my creations usually varies on the size of the build. A smaller creation may take about 10 hours while some of the larger ones can take up to 30 hours.
"When I build, I usually have an idea of vision in mind and allow the creation to take shape from there. Occasionally though I will sit down and sketch out my ideas to get a clearer vision of what I want to build."

Wire is stripped from its insulation for resale by looping it around toes and slitting it open with a razor blade . Both wire and plastic insulation are separated and resold in the Industrial section of Dharavi, Mumbai, India
Mumbai, India - Apr 2009
Industrial section of Dharavi, the teeming slum so called of one million souls, where as many as 18,000 people crowd into a single acre (0.4 hectares). And setting for much of recent hit movie 'Slumdog Millionaire'
Dharavi is routinely called "the largest slum in Asia," a dubious attribution sometimes conflated into "the largest slum in the world." This is not true. Mexico City's Neza-Chalco-Itza barrio has four times as many people. In Asia, Karachi's Orangi Township has surpassed Dharavi. Even in Mumbai, where about half of the city's swelling 12 million population lives in what is euphemistically referred to as "informal" housing, other slum pockets rival Dharavi in size and squalor.

Nick Gentry: Art made from obsolete media, London, Britain - Jan 2010
Mandatory Credit: Photo by Nick Gentry / Rex Features ( 1096049b )
Nick Gentry's art made from obsolete media (cassettes, VHS tapes, floppy discs and polaroids). 'Incept', a homage to the Rachael character from Blade Runner film, as played by Sean Young.
Nick Gentry: Art From Obsolete Media
NICK GENTRY: ART FROM OBSOLETE MEDIA
Ever wondered what happened to all those obsolete floppy discs and music cassettes? An imaginative artist uses them to make wacky portraits.
Nick Gentry uses piles of outdated storage media as a canvas for his quirky art - which include a tribute to the Mona Lisa using a VHS video tape.
But, other than a picture of Blade Runner character Rachael, he mostly paints random people he finds on the internet.
The London-based creative got the idea after using 3.5" floppy discs to create a face. He then decided to incorporate outmoded videos and cassettes that used to be a feature in every home.
Nick says his work reflects how information used to be personal to the format it was stored on rather than shared online like today. To highlight this he has even kept the hand-written labels on for posterity.
He explains: "Elements of people's lives are stored on the disks and although that data can never be accessed again I like to preserve some of that for viewing. Sometimes I leave the disks as they are and rip parts of the label off to create the shapes that I need.
"As a child growing up in the 80s and 90s this combination (of media) played a massive part in how I learned about the world. Favourite films, albums, games and even personal recordings were all stored on there.
"The whole world was totally reliant on these physical media formats. Now suddenly we are at a time where they are obsolete, replaced by countless invisible data files.
"As information is released from the physical form it allows personal data and identities to now be revealed an...

Lives Not Knives campaign run by Eliza Rebeiro, 18 and mum Monique. At just 17 Ms Rebeiro had witnessed three stabbings and lost two friends, including Wesley Sterling, an innocent 16-year-old who was knifed at a friend’s birthday. She responded to the loss by starting a voluntary grassroots group in Croydon. Rebeiro started Lives Not Knives on her 14th birthday, after she had a T-shirt printed at Camden Market with the slogan and it made a big impact on her friends. Today Lives Not Knives has taken over her life and she deploys 76 volunteers to deliver workshops in 37 schools, with demand for their services growing exponentially.
